Shipping Easy Automatically Completing orders in WooCommerce?

Hi There -

Shipping Easy is automatically completing my woocommerce orders before I can add a tracking # to the order in woocommerce. It's my understanding that once marked complete, that woocommerce will send an e-mail to the client confirming the item has been shipped. However, I'm not sure they're also receiving the tracking code since I have to manually enter it. How can I verify that the client is receiving the tracking information, or that an e-mail has been sent to the client through woocommerce by shipping easy marking my woocommerce store order as "complete?"

Hello Autumn - Thanks for posting to our forums!

We have a comprehensive guide to the details of our integration:

By default, ShippingEasy will mark your WooCommerce orders as "Complete" once they have been shipped. At that time, ShippingEasy sends the carrier, type of service, cost, and tracking number back to WooCommerce as an Order Note, displayed on the order page.

ShippingEasy allows you to send customize shipment notifications directly from ShippingEasy once your orders are shipped. This might be a good work around solution over manually adding in the tracking numbers to the correct field in WooCommerce.

If you choose to send your emails from ShippingEasy, you'll want to disable the emails from WooCommerce to avoid duplicates.

How do we make sure Shipping Easy doesn't mark orders Complete? We desperately need to turn this off so split orders (multiple vendors) don't fail because Shipping easy marks them "Complete".

Thanks!

Hi Marshall - ShippingEasy is configured to automatically mark your orders as Complete once they are shipped. There is not an "approved" method to turn this off. Though, I can point to the "Shipment Callback URL" as the means by which this update is sent. This can be found within ShippingEasy:

  1. Go to Settings >> Stores & Orders.
  2. Then under your WooCommerce store select "Edit store settings".
  3. You'll find a field titled Shipment Callback URL.

Editing this field can break the connection and prevent ShippingEasy from updating your orders. However, it should be noted that ShippingEasy will not update the status, nor will it update the tracking information. In addition, every WooCommerce order in ShippingEasy's Shipment History will display an error (triangle) noting that the store was not updated.

So, while it's possible to force ShippingEasy to stop updating your store, it's not recommended.

On that note, I'd love to learn a little more about your configuration.

  • If you're on the Starter plan, I'm happy to discuss this further in the comments below.

I'm also curious if a different method might work. Here are a few ideas:

Split before orders sync:

  1. Select specific statuses to sync with ShippingEasy, specifically selecting statuses that orders would not automatically find themselves within. Learn more.
  2. Split WooCommerce orders that need to be handled by separate vendors before they sync.
  3. Move the partial orders that need to be processed by ShippingEasy into a status that will sync with ShippingEasy.

Manually send orders to ShippingEasy when ready for shipping:

  1. Select specific statuses to sync with ShippingEasy, specifically selecting statuses that orders would not automatically find themselves within. Learn more.
  2. Once an order is ready to ship, manually send these orders to ShippingEasy. Learn more.

Split after syncing and delete partials that don't need to be shipped:

  1. Within ShippingEasy, split off the line items that don't need to be shipped in ShippingEasy. Learn more.
  2. Clear the line items that don't need to be shipped in ShippingEasy. Learn more. NOTE: drop shipping would mark these line items as shipped, so that method is not advised.
  3. Ship just the line items that need to be shipped. ShippingEasy will update just these line items.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on these ideas.
