Daily Reports

It would be nice to be able to print a report of order numbers and tracking number barcodes at the end of my mailing session, that way i don't have to go through every piece of mail and scan it.   Just have it all on one page.   It would be a time saver for me.

Hi Michael -

ShippingEasy presently offers the option to generate a USPS SCAN form. This is a document that assigns a single tracking number to a group of your shipments. It also allows your carrier to scan all your packages with this single barcode. We have more information about USPS SCAN forms in this guide:

On the other hand, ShippingEasy automatically sends daily reports to other carriers, such as FedEx and UPS. As such, we do not provide an option to generate a printable daily report for these carriers. These carriers also are not required to scan your packages at pick up. More about:

If you're looking for a different kind of form or solution, I'd love to get more details from you. We have several threads presently discussing similar daily reports. Feel free and post your thoughts there if your ideas relate:

Otherwise, let me know in the comments below what other tools your business needs.

Hello Michael - If you don't mind, I'd like to better understand what you are using this barcode for.

  • Do you internally scan in your tracking numbers as a way to reconcile your shipments for the day?
  • Does your carrier need this options?

The more details you can provide the better. Thanks!

We put all tracking numbers into our customer database so if they call or e-mail we have instant access to them.  Our phone staff and a few others in the company do not have access to shipping easy, so its an easier solution for us.

Hello Michael - May I assume that your customer database is compatible with scanning/barcoding software then? This is an interesting use case and I'll make note of it in our queue of features to consider building.

In the meantime, did you know that you can export reports from ShippingEasy which contain your order data, including tracking numbers? You can even schedule these to email to you on a recurring basis (daily, weekly, monthly) and then upload these to your customer database.

Please reference these guides for more information:

basically i can point my hand held scanner at a barcode and if its in a search box or text box in my database, my datbase knows what to do with it.

Hi Michael - Do you use a specific database program? I'd like to understand if this is a process that other shippers are also using.

Also, do you have any thoughts on the suggestion I made to export a file to upload to your database?

I am still not clear how your database is using this information. The better we understand how you are using this feature, the better we're able to determine if it will help many other accounts. Generally speaking, features that help a large segment of our customers will be prioritized more quickly.

We have our own custom made database.   Basically, i have to take the reference number ftrom every every order and type it into our databse to find the customers record, then scan the USPS barcode into the database.

It would be nice if i could get a report every day that makes a barcode of the reference number i put on my USPS Priority mail labels so all i have to do is scan that, thus making the database pull up the clients file, then scanning the bar code on the piece of mail.

Hello Michael - This act of scanning the tracking number, is this solely to save the tracking number to your customer record?

In which case, does your database support uploading CSV files? You can customize a CSV report to include the order number and tracking number, as well as other data if you'd like. Then upload this daily. It would condense all of the physical scanning into a single event.

Here are specific details about the custom reports:

I suggest this option again simply because it's available now, where as any development work may take quite some time to make it to the drawing table. In either case, I've logged the additional details about your workflow to help us as we evaluate which tools to build next.
