Filtering by values in the Warehouse/Bin field

0

We like the new warehouse location field, but while it has helped our processes there are still some additional features we'd like to see in order to be able to utilize it fully.

For background, we currently sort by warehouse then group our batches accordingly. The limitations to this are that we can not then sort additionally by Recipient (or any other column), and for multiple item orders the value in this field shows as 'Various' so does not group with other orders sharing a warehouse location.

I believe that our issues could be satisfied by adding a filter, perhaps with the standard list along the left of the screen, which would reflect any order matching what is entered, whether the value is shown in the warehouse column or hidden on any 1 of the lines for the multiple item orders.

If this, or something similar to accomplish the same outcome, could be implemented it would significantly improve our workflow.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Thanks again for posting to a new thread! I have gone ahead and forwarded this specific request to our Product Team so that they are aware of your interest in a new filter. Can you explain your process a bit further as to why you need to sort by warehouse and then sort by recipient? Maybe I can find a workaround for you.

Hi again,

I have a few followup questions to see if maybe I can come up with something for you:

  1. How many warehouse bins do you have?
  2. Have you taken a look at our Product Catalog by chance? You may be able to use this towards your benefit in multiple ways.

Our idea is that you could assign products to Product Categories based on your warehouse bins (assuming you don't have too many). And then if you create a shipping rule, you can check for the product category and categorize based on that. Then, from the Orders page, you can filter for category. Would that work for you?

Hi, Rachael. Thanks for continuing to help work with me toward a solution.

-We do not have a set of warehouse/bins. We use that field within ShippingEasy to display the order number of the inbound shipment, so this should in theory never have a repeated value. We do not stock inventory, but perform just-in-time shipping to our customers from wholesale orders we place with our suppliers.

-Somewhat in line with how I described our business in the above, we have not used the Product Catalog because we have over 200k SKUs which we list/sell based on the large and varied assortment each of our suppliers offers.

I understand what you proposed below, and it seems to make sense, but unfortunately doesn’t work for our purposes. I know we may be trying too hard to fit a square peg into a round hole, but hopefully there might be some solution which could assist us.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi again! Thanks for relaying this. I'm going to speak with my Product Manager to see if he has any ideas for you. I'll post back when I know more - thanks!

Hi again,

I wanted to check back in to relay my findings after speaking with a few members of the team, including our Product Manager. I wish I had better news; but after digging into this further, there doesn't seem to be a viable workaround to accommodate your unique set-up.

Currently, most ShippingEasy users utilize the warehouse/bin field to highlight the particular location of the item ordered. However, as you're looking to use this field in a different fashion, your requested functionality is not available. I'm so sorry the field cannot be manipulated to oblige your request.

The good news is that our Product Manager is now very familiar with your request and I hope we can prioritize the work soon. The more requests we receive for this feature in this thread, the faster it will move up the work list. Please keep an eye on this topic for updates.
