Insurance Options in ShippingEasy

Shipping insurance protects your packages if they are lost, stolen, or damaged during transit. In ShippingEasy, you can add carrier insurance or purchase insurance through our partner, Shipsurance. Learn how to insure a package.

Carrier Insurance

The following carriers include insurance with select services ranging from $50 to $200 per shipment:

ShippingEasy will display a message once you select the carrier and a service that includes insurance. For example:

Notification is shown, stating that the service you have selected automatically includes one hundred dollars of declared value.

Shipsurance

If you need more coverage than the carrier service provides, you can purchase additional insurance with Shipsurance. Shipsurance provides insurance against loss and damaged shipments at heavily discounted rates. See an overview of Shipsurance pricing.

Shipsurance insurance is available when a form of delivery confirmation is on the shipment (i.e., delivery confirmation, signature confirmation, adult signature confirmation). Many USPS services include a delivery confirmation type, but you can also add a delivery confirmation in the Order Details slide out.

Shipsurance can be used with USPS, UPS, FedEx, and certain consolidator services. Shipsurance cannot be used with DHL shipments. Learn more about Shipsurance FAQs.

Carrier Included Insurance

For shipments with automatic insurance coverage, like USPS Priority Mail Express, insurance purchased from Shipsurance would be in addition to the standard amount.

UPS Insurance Coverage by Item Value

The value you declare for insurance purposes should be the fair market value of the item and not the amount that the item was purchased for.

Items must also be packed properly to receive insurance payments if the item is damaged or lost.

Can I connect my own insurance rates to ShippingEasy?

ShippingEasy does not allow adding third-party insurance to shipments. However, if you would like to use a third-party insurance provider outside of ShippingEasy or the normal carrier insurance, you may be able to use our Reports feature to request insurance coverage.

Talk to your insurance company to see if they will accept a shipping report. If they do, you can export a Complete Shipping Report each day, mark the orders you would like insured, and then share it with your insurer.
