Leave customer info on pending order page

We do not use shippingeasy for anything other than printing postage. We do not use its inventory tracking or even the built in item weights. We weigh every package when making the label.

When we have a package that has a partial backorder, can we get an easier way to leave customer info in the open order section than having to split the shipment? Just need a selection that is say "Print and Keep Active."

That way, when we go to ship the rest in a few days, we just click on the order ID and ship again.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for reaching out. Interesting idea! One question though - may I ask what step in the splitting process doesn't work for you? Also, when you say customer info, what info are you referring to? Thanks for any feedback you have! I'll be sure to forward all info to our Product Team.

Well, we do not really care about how we shipped items a, b, c and x. We backordered d and e for shipping next week. Or we only shipped half of one item to ship the remainder next month. We track all of that stuff on our in house system. Shippingeasy is used by us only to print postage for USPS, UPS or FedEx.

Our staff finds it time consuming to "split" the shipment because the system wants to know what went and what did not. Or worse, when we shipped 0.33 of one item because 0.67 is back ordered.

If there was a option to click a box to keep the customer active, it would place the order as a whole on the order page and still print the label based on what we shipped from when we weighed the package.

Right now we just manually create the shipment later which is also time consuming, but not as much for us.

Hi Jim - You present an interesting use situation.

Have you see our Duplicate Shipment tool? This allows you to create an additional label for an order from your Shipment History. The label still links to the original order number, package contents, recipient, etc - and it's far more convenient than creating a manual order.

Perhaps this would be a satisfactory work around solution for the meanwhile.

This article will walk you through creating one:

If the Duplicate Shipment fulfills most of your needs, you might be interested in just seeing the option to add notes or categorize your shipped orders. We have one existing forum thread that would benefit from your comments:

Thanks!
