Hi Heather,
Thanks for posting here. We're glad to see you are interested! May I ask how you are using this? Any insights behind the need for the feature would be greatly helpful!
Hi Rachael
We have started a Drop Shipping program with Staples, which requires us to use a pre-approved packing slip with the Staples design on. Since ShippingEasy allows us to assign specific Packing Slips to stores, we are using the Upload CSV 'store' as our Staples store.
I can input almost all of our required information through the CSV file, except I cannot choose an option to import a different Billing/Shipping address.
This would be extremely helpful to have as a feature to edit, so that I can upload the most accurate information to be assigned to that store's Packing Slips in the end.
I hope this feedback is helpful, and that the option becomes available! Let me know if you need anything else from me.
Best,
Heather
Hi Heather,
Thanks for clarifying. It sounds like you may want Staples as the Ship-From address - is that right? If so, you can actually change your CSV store to have Staples' address. These steps should result in this:
1. In your stored addresses, save the Staples Ship-From address.
2. Go to Settings > Stores and Orders > Edit Store Settings (for your CSV store).
3. On your store's settings page, follow this article and save.
If I am misunderstanding your need, can you let me know? I'd like to make sure we don't have an option for you and that I understand the issue before forwarding the request to our Product Team. Thanks!
Hi,
Thanks for that, but definitely not that.
So lets say a customer has a shipping address in NY, NY and a billing address in LA, CA. I wanted to be able to add both of these fields to the CSV file upload so that the correct information showed up on the Packing Slip, but I cannot.
That means on the Packing Slip, which I cannot edit once the order is created, it lists both the Billing Address and Shipping Address as the same place.... that is if I have both of those fields on the Packing Slip.
What would be great is if it was possible to add both a Shipping Address and a Billing Address for the Packing Slip fields that are different from one another.
Best,
Heather
Hi Heather,
Thanks for the clarification! You are correct - currently, we do not have a mappable field for "Billing Address". However, depending on how you upload the CSV and what you currently include, it's possible we can find a workaround for this - using an unused field for the address not showing in ShippingEasy.
As long as that unused mapping field can be supported by a variable in the Packing Slip template, we may be able to make it work. I actually ran a test for this, and it worked for me. Whether it works for you will depend on the fields you actually utilize in your CSV and the variables you use in your Packing Slips.
Here's what I did:
1. In the CSV, I created a header for "Company Name". Under this field, I added the alternate address I wanted to show in addition to the shipping address.
2. I uploaded the CSV and when I mapped it, I mapped the header in my CSV entitled "Company Name" to the mapping in ShippingEasy entitled "Company".
3. I then went to my Packing Slip template and where you currently see "Billing Address", I took out the included variable for the billing address: {{shipment.billing_address}}
4. In place of that, I added the variable for the recipient company's name: {{recipient.company}}
5. The end result was a fully formatted address (each part of the address on their own line) for the Shipping Address. For the Billing Address, the full recipients name (if you chose to leave this variable before the recipient company's variable: {{shipment.billing_full_name}}) was shown and the Billing Address was formatted on one line like this:
609 Castle Ridge Road, #445, Austin, Texas, 78746
Although we will certainly look into your request, I think this may be a good workaround for you in the meantime as long as you are okay with the Billing Address being on one line (versus the Shipping Address being formatted properly).
I hope this helps somewhat!
Hi Heather,
One more thing I wanted to mention. ShippingEasy does support importing separate billing/shipping info for certain integrated stores. So, if you (or anyone else reading this thread) are interested in this workaround, but also have other integrated stores that we do support this for, you'll want to do the following to ensure that each store sends the correctly formatted packing slip with the information you want to provide:
Hi,
Thanks. I've done all of that already. There really is no other way I can trick ShippingEasy, other than I already have, to include a separate billing/shipping option on the packing slip from the CSV Upload store.
It would definitely be a very helpful field. Or for you to build an integration for the Staples Drop-Shipping program ;) .
Best,
Heather
Hi Heather,
I completely understand and we've made note of this so we can look into adding this functionality. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates we may have in the future. Thanks!
