API for Tracking Returns

Hello ShippingEasy Team

We sell home water tests on www.mytapscore.com

Customers need to send us their water samples so we send them a sampling package with a scan-based pre-paid return label.

However, we are unable to track the status of this auto-generated return label using your API. Can you please make this possible?

It would help us a lot in communicating the status of water testing for each of our customers.

Hi John,

Thanks for writing in. I just wanted to make sure I understand what you are looking for exactly. We currently show tracking information on your Shipment History page by clicking on the Return Tracking Number link. Were you thinking something along the lines of the clock and check mark we have for your outgoing shipments?

Thanks for following up. This is indeed become a very important issue for us an our usage of shippingeasy.

We pull the tracking information on our orders into our own software.

However, ever since we began ordering the scan-based return labels at the same time as the original shipping label we have been unable to import the return tracking number through the API.

I believe I get what you are wanting now, ShippingEasy needs to update your platform about the return shipping tracking info. We don't have anything like that in our open API or any of the platform connections currently. I will let product know about this request. For you and others that use Pay on Use Returns this would be a big win!

Dear Matthew

We have been using a very time-intensive work around, copying and pasting each return tracking number into our own database.

One possible way you can help us is if you could create an exportable CSV file with the return tracking numbers visible in it. That way we can download that CSV and upload all the return tracking numbers into our own software every few days.

Is that possible?

Hey Johnny,

A possible solution would be creating a custom report from the Report tab in ShippingEasy. On that report you would want to include the necessary order information but also include the tracking and the return option under the "show/hide columns" button. From there we will generate a CSV file (that we can set to send out daily) that can be used to upload that information. Here's a few knowledge base articles that can guide you through the process of setting that up.
