Ready to Ship page under Carrier Selections, negative weights should not be allowed. No error is given if a negative weight is selected using the textbox down arrow (or typed in) and the update button is pressed.
Negative Weight Bug

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Ray!
I've tested the following on our server:
- Create a Shipment from the Orders page for a single order.
- Locate the order on the Ready to Ship page.
- Toggle the weight value below 0 lb 0 oz (ex: -1 oz)
- Click the Update weight button, so that the weight is applied and my rate will update.
Then I see that the weight boxes are outlined in red and the following message appears: Weight is required.
Did you have a different experience?
Yes, it does not give me any error and updates as if a positive weight was entered. I followed the same steps as you have listed on previous orders. I will try again the next time I receive an order. For reference, I am using Chrome 40.0.2214.115 m.
Hi Ray - Thanks for confirming that the error is missing. If you come across this again, and can wait to ship out your order, would leave the order on the Ready to Ship page? Then send an email to issues@shippingeasy.com with the order number and a link to this forum? We'll be happy to verify the bug and escalate matters further to our developers.
E-mail sent, along with a video demonstrating the issue.
Jennifer,
Thanks for your detailed response. Just a follow up on your points.
When you mention that "weight is not a factor in the rate displayed for a Flat Rate package", this is not entirely correct. When I enter a weight above 70 pounds - the limit for flat rate packages - I correctly receive the following error message: "This batch contains order(s) with an invalid weight for the service/packaging selected - each service has its own weight limits. Please correct the highlighted order(s)." So package weight is being taken into consideration for flat rate and it should then follow that negative weights should also produce this, or a similar error message for flat rate.
Also, because negative weight has no practical application in shipping, it should never be allowed. Although this bug isn't a critical issue, it should be fixed in a future release just to eliminate those corner cases.
Hi Ray - Good points! I've raise them with our developers!

Hi Ray - Thank you so much for the video! It sheds a lot of light on what you've encountered. After some more testing, this is what we've found:
So, as long as you're using USPS Flat Rate packages, there's no need to edit the order weight. Of course, if you want to compare the shipping costs for your custom packages with Flat Rate packages, then you'll want to be sure to enter both the weight and dimensions of your custom packages.
I hope this helps!
