Automatically Capitalize Name up downloading order

Is there a way to automatically capitalize the customers name? We had this on our prior system and we are continuing to use that system for our packing slips because upon downloading the orders - it automatically capitalized the first letter of the name (but it does not make anything small if they capitalized it McNamara still has the '"N" capitalized. (so many customers type their name/address in all small letters)

Hi Connie,

I'd be happy to forward your request but I'd like to make sure I understand. Can you give me an example of how you want a name like "McNamara" to come into ShippingEasy? I am not sure if you are wanting it as MCNAMARA, Mcnamara, or McNamara (or something else) and which you see us currently importing as.

I worded things wrong I think

tom smith becomes Tom Smith
t a smith becomes T A Smith
tom mcnamara becomes Tom Mcnamara
(it only capitalizes the first letter)
Tom McNamara is NOT changed to Tom Mcnamara
TOM MCNAMARA would remain TOM MCNAMARA
(so it capitalizes but it does not change something Capitalized to small)

It is already done with the street, city, state but that might be done throught endicia. The 3rd party I used to download my orders Capitalized the first letter of the names as they were downloaded.

Especially during the busy holidays that would be a huge help since so many people use all small letters while typing.

Connie,

I think I understand. However, can you clarify further? If the customer is typing in their name as "tom smith" and we change it to Tom Smith, I am not understanding what would be incorrect about this. I'd love to learn more on how this affects your business - is it in relation to packing slips, labels, etc?

Sorry for the delay - I just returned from a trip.

Does it change it on the label but not on the screen?

I was assuming it did not capitalize because on the screen is still showed all small letters, so we were manually changing it.

Per the person doing our shipping, suddenly the system is putting everything in all caps? Is that something someone from shipping easy did?

Connie,

The labels all print with all caps. You may just be noticing this in ShippingEasy's interface. However, whatever it shows in ShippingEasy it will show in the Packing Slip, idenitcally.

For instance:

If your customer types in "tom smith", ShippingEasy changes it to Tom Smith, which is shown in ShippingEasy and on the Packing Slips. On the label, it will be TOM SMITH. Does this help?

Thank you. My apologies for the confusion. I am the only computer person for our company but I am not one who does the shipping and have been relying on information passed onto me (plus what I see on the screen only when I login remotely). When I look at the name on the screen it shows tom smith if that is how the customer typed it. When I asked the shipping person how it printed, we must have had a mis-communication.

Thank you for your help

Connie,

No problem! To be clear, is there still a feature you are interested in seeing or can I consider this thread completed?
