Integrate Payment Method as a Shipment Variable

0

We really need the Payment Method chosen by the customer in Prestashop to show up on our packing list. Can this be done please? (PayPal, Authorize.Net, etc.)

Zane,

It sounds like you want a packing slip variable to show the method selected - is that right? If so, do you mind explaining your need for this so that I can share it with our Product Team? I think that is a great idea, but would love to learn more on the reason for your need. Do you think having a column in either the Orders page or the reports to show the payment method would be something that would benefit you, too, or is it just for Packing Slips?

Hi, We mostly need this for our product & shipping manager. They use the Payment Method to assure that the product was paid for before shipping and they also update their accounting software based upon this value. Our immediate need is for the packing slip, since that is what gets handed off between these managers. If the column was there on the Orders page, that would be bonus. Thanks again for consideration.

Zane,

Thanks for clarifying. As I am sending this to my Product Manager, I do have a few questions for you:

  1. May I ask what accounting software you use? ShippingEasy does integrate with Quickbooks Desktop (Quickbooks Online is currently in the works) so if you use that, it may alleviate some need to manually update your accounting software.
  2. Additionally, as you can see in our Prestashop how-to-use article, there is a configuration option in the ShippingEasy PrestaShop plugin where you can specify the status that a PrestaShop order must have before it is sent automatically to ShippingEasy. Payment Accepted is the most popular choice so you can be sure that at the point that any order comes into ShippingEasy, it has been paid for.

I hope this helps temporarily for you while our Product Team looks into this request.

As a small business owner and probably a 1-2 man team like a lot of e-commerce business, we rely on the Packing Slip as Picking List, Fraud Detection tool, and overall it provides a lot of details that most people use to determine how to ship, when to ship, etc. I think that by just replicating the same variable provided by the shopping cart it will help tremendously. Also, you should take your team of developers to a few small online retailers to see how they work and how they use your tool that way you can have a better understanding. Don't get me wrong this is a great tool.
