Order of printed labels

I sort all of my outgoing packages by package type. I put all of my flat rate envelopes together, then group as a batch, then "print later". Then all of my RR A boxes, group as a batch, then print later. And so on and so forth for RR B's, Paddeds, etc.. Then when I go to print the labels, I print them all at the same time. However, the labels print in a seemingly random order. They are NOT grouped by the batches (which seems like the logical order in my mind) - I actually haven't been able to figure out HOW they are sorted. Regardless, since they're not sorted by batch, I must do a lot of flipping pages and shuffling packages to match up the labels with the packages. IMO, this is notshippingeasy :)

Is there any way to sort the order in which the labels print? Or is my only option to print each batch by itself?

Thanks for helping me to figure this out!

Hello Sharon - The label print sequence is determined by your Label settings.

If you go to Settings >> Labels, you'll find a menu title Print My Labels by. From the menu, you have the following options:

  • Order Number Sequence
  • Order Selection Sequence
  • Item SKU (A-Z) Sequence

Presently, I see that your account is set to print labels in Order Number Sequence. This is also consistent with what I see when reprinting from your Ready to Print page "Print Queue". The labels in each PDF are sorted in descending numeric order.

If it is important to you that your batches print in groups, then you will want to print your orders by individual batches. Then within each PDF that you generate, you will find the orders are sorted by order number.

There is one other tool available that can improve your printing process: ConnectEasy. This is an app that integrates your printer with ShippingEasy. It allows you to send  your batches directly to printer from the Ready to Ship page. The batches will print as you purchase, in order number sequence. You can still access the batches from your Shipment History, but you won't need to open the PDFs every time you want to print a label and/or batch.
