User Permission

I just signed up for ShippingEasy, integrated it with my Shopify store and I'm testing out the process.  I created a new user and unchecked all the permissioins in the settings because I want only orders assigned to the user to be available for them to view, edit, and ship.   I then went to the "shipping rules" setting and I created a rule that IF "item SKU" starts with DD, THEN "assign to user". However, I just placed a test order in my shopify store with products that have a SKU starting with DD and products that don't have a SKU at all, but when the user logs onto ShippingEasy, they have access to ALL products in that order (those with and without the SKU starting with DD).  Is there any way to avoid this?  Can the order be split on the backend so that they only see the products with the SKU assigned to them?

Hi Cynthia,

Thank you for posting to our forum!

Looking at your account, I am only seeing orders with product SKUs that start with DD assigned to the other user.  Do you have an example where it was not applied as you thought it should?

I also highly recommend adding SKUs to all of your products in Shopify.  That may even resolve the issue.

Hi Melody - There was one order which included 3 products in the order.  2 of the products had a SKU starting with DD and 1 of the products didn't have a SKU, but the assigned user had access to the entire order with all 3 products.  I want that order to be split automatically so that they only have access to the 2 products with the DD SKU.  Does that make sense?  As I was testing, I noticed that if an order is placed and none of the product SKU's start with DD, then the order doesn't get assigned to the user.  It seems to be an issue only when there is at least one product in the order that has a DD SKU, then all of the products (i.e. the entire order) gets assigned to the user.  Is there a way to have the orders automatically split in the backend so that the user only has access to SKU's that were assigned to them even if the order has other product SKU's?

Hi Cynthia,

We do have a couple of options for splitting orders:

Break out and split by SKU: This allows orders to be split based on the SKUs contained within the order.

Split All Line Items: When applied to an order, the order is split by line items. For instance, an order with 3 line items will result in 3 new orders, having 1 line item each.

You could create a Shipping Rule to split the order and then have your rule to assign to the specific user as well.  I recommend having the splitting rule at the top of your Shipping Rule Setup page and the assigning user rule at the bottom of your Shipping Rule Setup page.

How to: Create a Shipping Rule

Hi - I tried doing what you said but it's not working. Can you please let me know what I'm doing wrong?  I need to figure this out ASAP.  I added the following shipping rules in the "Shipping Rules Setup" page:

IF "item sku does not start with DD"

THEN "break out and split by SKU" {I left the text box next to this blank}

After I created that rule & saved it, I went back to the "Shipping Rules Setup" page and created the following rule:

IF "item SKU starts with DD"

THEN "assign to a user" {I selected the user's name from the drop down}

I then tested an order which included a few products with a SKU that starts with DD and one product that has a SKU starting with KA but ALL of the product SKU's were assigned to the user.  I only want that user to see the orders that have a sku starting with DD.  I do not wan to split all the line items.  I just want the user to see all the items that have a sku starting wtih DD and nothing else.

Can you please advise?  Thanks!

I just want to add...

I am open to any solution that will accomplish my goals.  I sell multiple products and depending on the product, different users ship different products.  But it is very feasible that ONE customer will place an order that has multiple products in that one order that all need to be shipped by different users.

When an order comes in with multiple line items, I would like to have some line items assigned to one user and other line items assigned to a different user.  I'm willing to add tags, SKU's, vendors, or whatever other identifier is necessary to make this work.   Here's an example:

One customer places one order with 3 different product sku's.  2 of those product SKU's need to be shipped by USER A and the 3rd product SKU needs to be shipped by USER B

USER A should ONLY see the 2 product SKU's that are assigned to her on her order page since she will only be shipping those 2 products.

USER B should only see the 1 product that is assigned to her on her order page since she will only be shipping that 1 product.

The way it's currently set up, every user is seeing every order which is very confusing.  Please let me know the best way to set this up.
