Undeliverable Status

Hi Shippingeasy,

We have the Order number 112-6310628-0498617 has the status in "Undeliverable".
Here is the tracking number: 9400110200828544585363
We have tried to connect with USPS website to see its status but we can not.
Can you help us to check to see what is the reason of undeliverable status and how can we solve it for our customer?

Hi Sense Asia!

I've followed the trail to find a little more about this order.

When I click the link in your Shipment History, it takes me to the USPS tracking page. Here is see the following message:

Your item was returned to the sender on March 18, 2015 at 10:13 am ... because of an incomplete address.

When I pull up the order details in your Shipment History (by clicking on the order number) I see that the address line 1 information is missing. The recipient's name, company, city, state, and zip code are all that are listed.

I suspect that this address returned an error on the Ready to Ship page prior to purchasing postage. ShippingEasy validates addresses through Dial-A-Zip, a US address verification tool that is offered by Endicia and supported by the USPS. If an address will not validate, you are given the option to use it and proceed anyway. However, invalid addresses assumes a risk of delivery, as we're seeing in this case.

It would be best to reach out to your customer to verify their complete address. Then either wait for the original merchandise to be returned to send it again or mail out a new package so that the product reaches them more quickly.

You can re-purchase postage for this order by using our duplicate label tool. Note in step 6 you can edit the order to update the address.

Hi Sense Asia,

I'm glad I could help. I am curious what's preventing you from accessing the USPS site, though.

Did you try clicking through the tracking number listed in your ShippingEasy SHIPMENT HISTORY? This should open the USPS site as a new tab. Is this what happens when you click the link?

  • If no, what browser are you using?
  • If yes, do you find that the correct tracking number is queried by USPS?

You may also try going directly to USPS' track and confirm page and enter your tracking number/s. Though, this would just be a back up option until we can figure out why you're not able to access tracking directly from the app.

We have tried to click on the tracking number listed on Shipment History but it just appeared like this:
"Access Denied
You don't have permission to access "http://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input?" on this server.

We also can not log in directly from USPS page. We are using Chrome browser. It also noticed like this:
"Access Denied
You don't have permission to access "http://www.usps.com/" on this server.

My college also can not log in USPS site. Could you please advise us what is the reason with this?

Hi Sense Asia - Thank you for the extra details. I've escalated this information to our developers; however, we've been unable to reproduce this error message for the example order that you provided.

When searching this particular error, I've only found a single record of it online: http://sitedown.co/usps/access-denied Unfortunately, it did not provide any further suggestions for overcoming it.

Did you only come across this for the one order? Or are you unable to view the tracking for the rest of your orders?

When accessing the USPS site from the different computers, are they connected to the same internet service provider?

Thanks for your reply.

We can not access to check for the rest of our orders. Also we can not connect to USPS with different computers also.

Before, I used the gateway program to support for log in, it worked properly. But now, I can not use any more.

Please advise me what is the reason for this? I do not know if is there any different IP or internet service between ours and USPS?

After browsing, I've come across a suggested set of troubleshooting steps if you're unable to access the USPS site:

Browser Related Problems

  • Force a full refresh for the site. This can be achieved by pressing CTRL + F5 keys at the same time on your favorite browser (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc.)
  • Try alternative urls such as cns.usps.com, usps.gov
  • Clear the temporary cache and cookies on your browser to make sure that you have the most recent version of the web page. For instructions choose your browser:

Fix DNS Problems

A Domain Name System (DNS) allows a site IP address (192.168.x.x) to be identified with words (*.com) in order to be remembered more easily, like a phonebook for websites. This service is usually provided by your ISP.

  • Clear your local DNS cache to make sure that you grab the most recent cache that your ISP has. For Windows - (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter). For details choose your operating system:
  • If you can access the website at office or from a 3G network yet it's not working on your computer, it is a good idea to use an alternative DNS service other than your ISPs. OpenDNS or Google Public DNS are both excellent and free public DNS services. Learn how to change your DNS.

I'd love to hear if any of these options work for you.
