"Sync with Store" Delayed

The "Sync with Store" button no longer does a simple PHP query of the store API. Performance has dropped from a few seconds to a few minutes, making the "Synch with Store" button pretty non-effective.

Hi Chuck - Thanks for posting to the forum.

This update to our interaction with the API was a conscious change made to how we handle downloading orders from Shopify and BigCommerce.

We found that the instantaneous downloads from these stores worked great if there were just a few orders to sync; but when many orders were being pulled through, the API would time out creating a cascade of problems for many of our customers. These problems included orders getting stuck loading which forced the shipper to call us to manually pull the orders in. To better accommodate shippers of all sizes, as well as ensure that all orders were syncing reliably, we put a throttle on the speed with which we download Shopify and BigCommerce orders. The immediate result was that customers who were missing orders were able to pull all orders in with the automatic sync.

If you find that the orders are syncing too slowly, please try refreshing the page, which will often expedite the process. There is no need to continuously click "Sync with Store", but a simple refresh of the page should show you the orders more quickly.
