Label Dates

I just signed up today. I switched from Shipstation to Shipping Easy. Are you working on the ability for us to set a default cut-off time for a shipping label so that it reflects the precise date we are shipping a package? My post office closes at 7:00 p.m. so I need to be able to set my cut-off time to ship later than 5:00 p.m.-- the time most post offices close. Many times I print shipping labels after 5:00pm and drop packages to my post office by 7:00pm the same day. I do not want the label date to reflect the next day if I print a label after 5:00pm. So how do I set the cut-off time to ship packages? I need to be able to set my default cut-off time to 10:00 pm and not have the label date reflect the next day's date but the actual date I print the label.

Great news! We now have the ability to set the ship date to automatically advance to the next day after a specific time. This will be especially helpful for users who have a USPS pickup scheduled for the same time each day as they can now set labels created after this time to automatically default to the next days date. NOTE: this can be set up on a per user basis and has been added to the “My Account” settings under the option name "Automatically advance ship date after". Just be sure to "Update Profile" before proceeding to another page in the application. So glad we were able to get this feature released for you! Please keep the wonderful feedback coming!

Hi DeAngela,

Thanks so much for reaching out. Unfortunately, we do not currently offer this but we do automatically post date starting at 9:00 PM PST. If you are looking for another time to start post-dating, I highly recommend posting to this thread so that our CEO and Product Team can see how much interest we have in this feature in one cohesive thread. You can comment, follow, and like here.

Thanks!

Hi Rachael!

Glad to see some progress on this! It may need a tweak though.

The 2 problems we see with this setup:
1. The Shipper needs to know the user password to change the shipping time.
2. Orders already in the shipping Que are not affected. You need to clear the orders in the shipping que, send them back to the orders screen, and then create the shipment again to make the date change.

That said, this is a vast improvement to having to change every package date. Each update seems to get us closer to the day I can take some time off! Thank the developers for us.

Steve,

Thanks for the kind words! There are currently a few changes that will not update if you have anything on the Ready to Ship page, so this feature is in alignment with the rest of the setting changes that may take place. That said, I highly suggest posting a feature request asking for changes that are made while orders are on the Ready to Ship page to take affect immediately as I can see how this could cause some headache. I'm not sure if it is possible, but like the idea.

When you say the shipper needs to know the user password, what do you mean? What is your process? Do you have shippers without access to ShippingEasy user accounts?

Yea... we are control freaks here. We sign the account on in the morning, and then hand off some of the shipping to staff. When you sign us off during the day for inactivity (even though we are never inactive), we just sign them back on.

Steve,

Thanks for that info. While we do sign customers off due to inactivity, it usually takes quite a bit of inactivity (at least hours). That said, if you are not inactive, are you using ShippingEasy on 2 computers? If you are logged in using the same log in on two computers, if one goes inactive then both get logged out. Additionally, I highly suggest creating users per shipper or team (or the like). This should solve both problems you are having with inactivity and the time change issue. Thanks!
