A generic Shipping rate calculator

0
Completed

Many times we will have a customer ask for a rate for shipping an 'XYZ' to Denver or Altoona.

We should have a easily accessible rate calculator where you enter dimensions, weight, from zip, to zip, and you would get back quotes for both Priority, Fedex, and UPS based on what shipping easy would price them off.

The current system requires you to have a valid street address, phone numbers, etc. and create a shipment before allowing shipping quotes. We don't want our cashiers creating shipments that may or may not be actual shipments.

You currently have something like this at http://shippingeasy.com/flatrategreen but it only uses 1 form of shipping, so we then need to duplicate the process elsewhere for our fedex rate.

Steve,

This is a great suggestion! We do currently have our rate tables included in our Support Center Knowledge Base, but I can see how having a dynamic and live tool could make things go much faster.

I have logged your request.

That's a cool tool, Steve! I'll forward this link to the proper department.
Speculating a little bit, I think part of the reason it's so difficult to have a browse rates tool for all carriers is due to the fact that each of our users all have different and unique negotiated rates with carriers other than USPS. This makes it harder for us to show individual rates. Regardless, it would likely be a helpful tool to multiple users. Thanks!

ShipStation has this type of Rate Calculator in the top header of their site when you are signed in. It shows my negotiated rates for UPS and also USPS. C'mon ShippingEasy, this is do-able! Us shippers have these questions from customers all the time and to give a quick estimate based on zipcode and whether it is residential/commercial would help us TREMENDOUSLY

Hi Christopher,

So glad to hear you are interested in seeing this, too! I know I'd love to see it as well. I've made sure that the team is aware of your interest. Please keep an eye on this thread and if you happen across another thread with someone who would like to see this feature, feel free to direct them here! The more requests we get, the more likely we are to prioritize.

I would also like to supply weight, box dimensions, ship from and to address and see a quote from all my setup carriers - would be a big time saver on orders we select the shipping method.

I would also like a quick way to generate a shipping quote based on the size and weight of the package. This would be a huge help and most other services are already offering this.

This feature would be aMAZing!!!

I find it annoying to have to create a manual order just to estimate the price. sure it's not that hard to create a order and plug in the info to get a price... but often times I only have a zip and state but not the full address details. Manual orders require full address info... so now I'm googling an address just to get a generic quote. Plus half the time the customer doesn't follow through so it's wasted energy.

It would be so much quicker and easier to have a generic quote calculator where we can just enter a zip code, size, weight and shipping provider and have it estimate a price.

Please implement this!! =))

Hi Melissa,

Thanks for your input!

We are looking into offering this but I do not have an ETA. Please keep an eye on this thread so you are updated on all news surrounding this feature. Thanks!

Hello,

Great news, everyone! We just released a rate calculator that does not require a manual order be added into the system. It is a shipping rate calculator that you can compare across USPS, UPS, and Fedex within ShippingEasy. You can read more about this feature HERE as well. You can access it either from the upper left hand corner of the application or the "browse rates" options on the Orders and Ready to Ship pages.

One thing to note is that this rate calculator is available through logging directly into ShippingEasy. It will not affect the rates your customers are quoted during the check out process.

Please let us know if there is anything else you have questions on and we will be happy to help.

This is GREAT news ... I've just been playing with it and it is a great step forward!

I did notice, however, that Fedex Smartpost wasn't included in the results?

I notice when I test a UPS Ground rate without dimensions, 8 pounds I get 10.48 for my rate, I then put in dimensions 50x5x5 and get the same rate - Is ups not sending the added $10.00 fee for boxes over the size of 48", or are you missing some information in the UPS data exchange?

Hello,

Fedex Smartpost is not included at this time, but we plan are investigating to add it into future expansion.

Steve G- it looks like you sent us a ticket regarding this question. Our Customer Success team will help you to address this question and look into it further.

Thank you very much for your feedback- we know this is a tool many shippers want to take full advantage of to make shipping as easy as possible. We are very excited about this feature and glad you are able to use it to make things easier!
