Scan Based Returns for FedEx

Currently the Shipping Easy platform is unable to create scan based returns (printing out a return with each shipping label printed) for FedEx shipments.  This is done for USPS shipments.

In order to create a return label for FedEx we have to go the the shipping history and print return labels on a case by case basis.  This isn't the way customer focused service works for many ecommerce companies.  Customer expect to have their scan based return label in the package instead of having to get in touch with our customer service team to get a return label.

 

I'm requesting that Shipping Easy provide the integration with FedEx required to print out scan based returns.

While we do not have short term plans to add support for FedEx scan-based returns, we've added it to our list of FedEx enhancements to consider.

In the meantime, the bulk "Label Actions" menu on the Shipment History allows you to generate multiple return labels at a time. Although, you may want to first:

  • filter your history by "Destination" first, as only domestic shipments are eligible for returns through ShippingEasy.
  • sort by carrier to make it easier to select just the FedEx shipments.

Since FedEx labels are "scan-based" in nature, and aren't billed unless used, this would allow you to generate return labels quickly for your FedEx shipments.

We'll prioritize any work on FedEx scan-based returns based on the feedback we receive, so I encourage others who are interested in this to "vote" up this post and leave comments.
