Negative Postage Balance

I am wondering why when I logged in I had a postage balance of -$1.33....

I am not sure how that is possible since you pay for postage up front. I do not have a paid account either. I would like to know how to get my money back.

Thanks

Hi Chelsea,

Thank you for posting to our forums!

A negative postage balance is typically related to USPS Automated Package Verification which is referred to as APV.

As domestic shipments go through processing, USPS will scan and weigh them to check for correct postage paid based on size, weight, destination, mailing service, etc. Discounted rates such as Commercial Base Pricing, Commercial Plus Pricing and Cubic discounts are considered in the calculation.

If the amount is underpaid, a debit will be made to cover the difference. If the amount is overpaid, a credit should be issued. These debits and credits will be shown as "Adjustments" in your Endicia postage account.

The negative balance (or different balance) you are seeing is in regards to APV adjustments.  Endicia has a confirmed issue within their web portal that it is not always accounting for the APV adjustments. Endicia has confirmed the only way to get a truly accurate balance is through an API call which is the API call that ShippingEasy does us to retrieve your account balance.  So the balance you see in ShippingEasy should be accurate.

I also encourage you to log into your Endicia postage account to view your transaction history and your adjustments for each month.  Steps for doing that can be found here:  How to: Obtain my Endicia refund and transaction history.  The adjustments tab can be viewed once you run the transaction history report.

I hope this helps!
