Split Orders | How To

An order containing multiple line items can be split to accommodate changes in stock, different shipping locations, or multiple packaging needs. ShippingEasy supports several ways to split orders:

  • Split Orders by Line Item: Our Split Order tool is a fast way to bulk split all items in an order into new orders so that each order item has its own order.

  • Split Order Items and Quantities: Our Split Order Items tool lets you manually divide order items and quantities into new orders. This option gives you maximum oversight over how order items, and their quantities, are split out into new orders.

When an order is split, the order totals - such as shipping paid and sales tax - are recalculated for each new order. Order totals are divided so that the sums of the new orders equals that of the original order. [Learn how split order totals are calculated.]

Split Orders by Line Items

ShippingEasy's Split Order tool allows you to divide a single order or multiple orders, in bulk, with a single click.

ShippingEasy will separate the individual order items into new orders on the ORDERS page. The original quantities of each order item will not change.

How to split orders by line items

  1. Locate one or more orders you would like to split. Check the box for all orders that need to be split.

  2. Click the More button and select Split Order from the drop-down menu.

Each resulting order will have the same order number as the original order.

If you need to further separate any order items with multiple quantities, you can use the Split Order Items tool.

Split Order Items and Quantities

When preparing orders to ship, sometimes you need to split out order items and their quantities. Perhaps everything cannot fit in the same box or maybe an item needs special handling.

ShippingEasy's Split Order Items tool allows you to create two or more new orders by:

  • Separating out order items.

  • Dividing the quantities of individual order items.

Once split, the resulting orders have the same order numbers as the original order.

How to split order items and/or quantities

  1. Check the box next to an order that needs to be split on the ORDERS page.

  2. Click the More button and select Split Order Items from the drop-down menu.

  3. Separate line items into new orders or divide the quantities of individual line items in the Split Order slider.

  4. Click Split Order at the bottom of the slider.

The new order will now appear on the ORDERS page with the same order number.

To separate line items into new orders:

Click the arrow to move the items you wish to split out from the "Original Order" into a "New Order".

The items will appear in the "New Order" box.

To divide the quantity of line items in an order:

Click the Qty link beneath the quantity of the item you want to split. By default, a quantity of 1 will be split from the original quantity. You can use the editing box to specify the quantity of each resulting line item.

Click All to split the entire quantity into single orders.

Click the arrow to move items to the "New Order" box once you have finished splitting the quantity.
