Create a Shipping Rule

Shipping Rules allow you to automate the processing of your orders within ShippingEasy. Using simple If... Then... statements, you dictate actions that ShippingEasy should take, based on the conditions you specify.

We have a comprehensive list of our favorite Shipping Rules with step by step instructions - view them to get started quickly. To learn more about the possibilities of Shipping Rules, read through our FAQs - or - explore our guide to using rules to improve operational efficiency.

If you already have a good idea of what you want to automate, this quick setup guide will help you get started. You can choose to create a new Shipping Rule or build on your automation by cloning an existing Shipping Rule.

Important

  • Rules Apply to Incoming Orders: Shipping Rules apply to all new orders that download from your integrated stores and those entered manually.

  • Rules Do Not Apply to Existing Rules: When you add new or make a change to a Shipping Rule, it will only apply to new orders received after saving the rule. Existing orders will be unaffected by Shipping Rule additions and edits. Use the re-run Shipping Rules tool to apply rules to existing orders. Learn more about re-running Shipping Rules.

Create a new Shipping Rule

You can create up to 30 Shipping Rules.

  1. Set the "IF" conditions: each of which is checked against every incoming order. If all of the conditions for a shipping rule exist for an order, then that shipping rule is applied to that order. If any of the conditions do not exist, then the shipping rule is not applied to that order.

if order weight and order status

If an order has a status of Awaiting Payment, and the total weight is equal to 13 ounces, then this shipping rule will apply the "THEN" actions, listed below.

  2. Set the "THEN" action: actions are what ShippingEasy does for you.

Here is an example of two actions:

    then rules showing two actions

For every order that meets the conditions of this rule, ShippingEasy will set a specific 'Ship From' address and will set the Shipping Preset to Large Envelope Flat.

  3. Optionally, you can direct the Shipping Rule to create a shipment for qualifying orders.

    Note

Skip this step if you wish for the order to remain in an unshipped, pending status.

    Note
