Scan forms for single shipments.

Scan forms for single shipments would be great. We primarily use the Expedited, but have an occasional First-Class shipment (generally more than 1, but not always) that we would like to have scan forms generated for as well. This would definitely make shipping easier for us!

Good news everyone!

It is now possible to create a SCAN form in ShippingEasy with just one label.

The rest of the process is unchanged, but I'm including a few references for anyone who may not be familiar:

Hi there,

Interesting suggestion. The reason we do not allow it is, in part, due to the fact that you do not need a SCAN form for a single shipment (USPS does not require it, nor do they really want one if there is only one shipment). If you dont mind me asking, how would this help your shipping process?

Sincerely,

Hi Rachael,

I would say that from our experience USPS, or at least our driver, would prefer a scan form even if there is only 1 shipment on it. If there is not a scan form we have to separate that 1 first class order out and make sure they scan it individually. With a form we can just set it next to the other one and nothing is overlooked.

How this helps us is it eliminates one more thing to keep track of throughout the day. We have 2-3 people processing shipments each day. Without the scan form those people are required to always be aware of how many first class shipments they have each done and communicate that, or remember to check the daily shipping history at the end of the day. If there is only 1 first class that was done someone then has to go through the shipments waiting for pickup, find that one and set it aside.

Is this really that big of a deal? No, it's just a minor annoyance. One that was never a concern with Stamps.com though. It seems like it could be an easy fix that would help our process. Even if it is minor every little bit helps!

Thanks for the clarification! I believe this is more of a limitation with Endicia but I could be wrong so I have forwarded your request to our Product Team.

Here is an example of where this restriction makes our life tougher.  Suppose I have 50 Priority Mail shipments and 1 First Class package.  We probably don't even notice there is only the one First Class until we go to print today's SCAN sheets, then discover we have the one that will not be included.  Imagine digging through multiple tubs of shipments to find this package and add a note for the carrier to scan it manually.

I can not find this restriction on the endicia web site so I'm thinking it is a Shipping Easy rule.  What difference does it make to SE if we want a SCAN form for 1 package, how is it any problem to you at all, and maybe your should not be making arbitrary rules?

By the way, stamps.com does NOT have this restriction.

Hi Bill - Thanks for detailing the consequences of this limitation.

Through some testing, I've verified that the limitation is within ShippingEasy. You can, in fact, create a single shipment USPS SCAN form through your Endicia account on Endicia.com. Please reference this guide if you're interested in learning more:

It seems that the restriction of two or more shipments per a USPS SCAN form was set in the original product development. We are looking at changing this behavior in a future product release. However, I do not have a timeline.

We'll update this thread when any notable changes are made. For any other interested businesses, please continue to post your feedback in the comments below.

Thanks for taking the time to check on this for us.  Thank workaround is sort of time consuming and awkward, I sure hope this can be fixed n ShippingEasy soon.
