Hi Michael & Randy,

Thank you for your feedback. I have added a request to our inventory queue to include the UPC field in our products import/export file. I understand that some people will use the UPC-A and/or EAN barcodes to identify their products, and that the formats and barcode lengths can vary for each.

Randy, you mentioned that you would also require our upload process to include checking to ensure the value entered is a UPC-A or EAN barcode. Today our UPC field does not verify the format of the value entered. We allow for free text to be entered so that each of the different barcode lengths can be included. Were you looking for additional support here?

This is very important to have available.  The process also needs to include checking to be sure the field is actually a UPCA or EAN.  Thanks,

My opinion is that there should at least be a check for the correct number of digits.  12 for UPCA and 14 for EAN.  It must allow for the leading zero's.  I think that is the thought with keeping it a textfield.  However, there is sometimes and issue when sending this kind of field as a CSV.  It changes the field to a number and truncates it by using powers to display the long number.  This need to be avoided.

thanks,  Randy

Why not have 2 separate fields.  One for UPC and one for EAN.

Also, we should be able to update all the product fields via import/export.  Doesn't help much if we can't

According to UCCnet the standard is UPC and EAN are interchangeable.  About 5 years ago in the US POS systems were required to accept both. In the US UPC were automatically assigned 2 leading digits to represent the country of origin. In essence this made up an EAN.  Shipping Easy should follow the international standard here and leave the UPC/EAN field as it is.

Yes, we need to have the ability to import and export the UPC/EAN.

respectfully,

Randy, eRockets

Hi Randy & Travis,

Thank you for sharing your additional feedback. It looks like the request to add UPC to our CSV import/export is being tracked in two separate threads. As I mentioned on our other thread (below) we do have plans to add the UPC to our CSV upload process in the coming weeks. We're still finalizing the exact release date and functionality for this update so I will share this information once it becomes available.

In the meantime if you have any additional feedback or thoughts on this request please do not hesitate to respond back to this post.
