Shopify order number prefix

We went to the trouble of using Shopify's order number prefix so we could match our ecommerce orders with order numbers in our ERP software.  This allows our shipping invoice audit team to easily match Fedex bills with their respective orders.  As a company we ship hundreds of shipments every day and not only does SE not download the full order number correctly, but the workaround "Alternate Order Number" is useless because it is not an option for the Fedex reference fields.  Other softwares have many more options for the Fedex and UPS reference fields so I know it is doable.  Please download the Shopify orders correctly and also increase the options for Fedex reference field population.

Agree! It really confuses our customers when Shipping Easy does not show the full order number. If they are going to force us to have the order number on the USPS labels, please at least have it showing the full order number (prefix included). Additionally, if we could just remove the order number from the USPS shipping labels, that would also be OK for now.

Adding my vote to this feature. It is causing errors and loss in productivity for our workers because SE cannot support Shopify's order number or alternate order numbers on packing and labels. A fix for this is desperately needed.

Our team is looking into this request further. Could we please get a screenshot of how the order number prefix looks on the Shopify side? Any additional details of how this prefix is used would be beneficial as well.

Hi Bria,

 

The prefix can be any characters that the company chooses. Our order numbers start with "UA" before the number that Shopify assigns to the order. For some reason, Shipping Easy is only pulling the number portion and ignoring the custom prefix letters that each store can choose to add in their Shopify settings. Stores can customize this option under "Settings" then "General" in their Shopify admin page. Stores also have the option to add a suffix, but I am not sure if SE pulls that (we have never used that part).

I agree with this request also.  It really negatively affects our returns process. The customer is asked to provide the order number for self-service returns. Since the Shippingeasy label does not print the full order number they customer enters it from the label and then get's an error and calls us for the return. Please fix this. I see the issue has been out there now for over a year.  At a minimum, just allow the option in the label settings ref field to let us choose the alt order number in addition to the order number.

I agree with this also. We just added our prefix as well and have taken to cutting the labels so the order number isn't visible. Would love something better.

is this still not fixed? - surely an easy addition

When the orders come through from shopify they are missing the prefix we give them in Shopify e.g. 1143 is actually labelled WEBUS1193 in shopify - how do we fix it so this prefix comes through and then prints on the UPS/Fedex  label as the reference as it is confusing customers not seeing their whole order number? - thanks Ian

Is shipping easy ever going to allow the use of the 'Alt. Order Number' on Shipping labels and especially on return labels?   This would make the return process a lot faster.  Thanks
