Allow users to dictate what Product Catalog takes priority on.

I love the product photos (would like to be able to manually add multiple new products as well) but don't want the product catalog to dictate weights or anything else. Would rather weights be first dictated by SE rules and then the weight pulled-in by the store.

Lillian,

It sounds like you are wanting the hierarchy to change a bit - is that correct? In other words, currently, the chain of command is like this (lowest to highest):

  1. Info that comes in from your store - a typical sync

  2. Product Catalog overrides the info from your store in a sync.

  3. Rules override both Product Catalog information as well as info syncing from your store.

It sounds like you would like to see (lowest priority to highest):

  1. Product Catalog

  2. Info synced from store (which would override Product Catalog info)

  3. Rules (which would override synced info and Product Catalog info)

I do know that the reason we currently have it prioritized the way we do is partially due to many customers not pulling in weights, whether it be by choice or platform issues.

The second would be best for us. I can understand why some people would prefer to have the Product catalog take precedence. What would be ideal is to have a settings option to check or uncheck "Allow Product Catalog to Override Weights Submitted by Stores" That would be default checked but that we could turn off. For us it adds headache to the process to modify the product catalog for it to dictate weights.

Lillian,

I understand. We did just release a new feature for eBay that allows information to automatically be created in the Product Catalog, based on SKU, if the product does not already exist. So that should at least help you for new products from eBay. I am not sure if/when we plan on doing this for other stores but I can see that being a potential solution to your problems, too.

In any case, I have forwarded your specific request to our Product Team.

Lillian,

One more suggestion:

If you change your Product Catalog entries to have 0 for weight then we will ignore the weight in the Product Catalog. I hope that is helpful!

Hmm, that is what we had it as, since we just did not input a weight in the spreadsheets but it seemed to be overriding the weights from Amazon and setting them as 0. If them being 0 causes the system to ignore them and use the Amazon weight then this is a moot point.

Lillian,

0 should cause us to ignore it but do you have an example order we can look at?

One thing to note is that ShippingEasy cannot control what weights import from Amazon. You can see more on the ASINs that Amazon applies in this article regarding how to use Amazon with ShippingEasy.
