I need to be able to get a report or sort my shipping history by state, I need to be ale to see which items I shipped to my state (California). This option is not available.

Great idea. You can do this on the Orders page, but I can understand a need for having it on the Shipment History page, too, so I have forwarded your feedback to our Product Team. Thanks!
