When I upload my CSV file into my CSV orders store of my new account that I just got then upgraded, all my column headings are showing up blank (which they're not) and it is thus impossible to select anything to match with the ShippingEasy columns.
CSV capabilities was the one thing that got me to sign up for this service, so I'm hoping this can work and work quickly as I need to send out today.
Hi Regina,
I'm sorry to hear you are having difficulty! It sounds like your CSV is not formatted correctly.
First, make sure you have included all of the required columns in your CSV file. You can even create a new file using our sample CSV so you know it is formatted correctly.
Important: Make sure all of your columns have headers, even columns you do not plan to match to upload.
I've included some additional tips below that should help as well.
Missing columns:
If you don't have a first/last name, try populating a field like "Office Manager" or something similar. You can populate the same field down by clicking on the corner of the box and dragging down. More information from Microsoft offfice regarding fill series/fill data.
Formatting:
Make sure your address lines are formatted correctly. You need separate fields (Address line 1, Address line 2, City, State, Zip code, and Country). If these are all in the same cell for your orders, you can manually separate them, or if they are separated by a specific character, you can create a new column at each comma. More info on Microsoft here
One more thing to note, is that all of the columns will automatically be recognized as "General" which means that the zip code column will be recognized as a number, not text, which will remove the 0 in front of any zip code. You will want to change the zip code column format to "text" to avoid this problem for zip codes starting with 0. This formatting change will only work in Google docs, unfortunately. For Excel, when the sheet is converted to a CSV from the spreadsheet, the formatting will revert back to "General". Also, if it is a long (only numerical SKU) Excel will apply scientific notation (e.g. 44.71E+12).
Validating:
Finally, our systems will not validate zip codes longer than 5 characters. If you have the extended zip code, you will just want to include the first 5 characters and remove the remaining 4. Here is how to easily do that: More information here.
Please let us know if you have further questions.
Warm regards,
