Shipping Date made 5 days ahead?

I know you can make the date for a USPS label up to 7 days in advance and that helps a lot. However we make a product that goes to another partner for framing, so a few days later they ship that product with the post dated label I had made.

At times when I have forgotten to post date the label the postman that p/u the package had complained that the date of label creation was 5 days ago and he does not want to p/u the package.

Is there any requirement for the USPS that the date the label is created had to be the date the package is shipped? It all goes through the tracking and it is very clear when the label was made and when it was received.

Thanks

Hello Doug, and thank you for posting to our community!

Unfortunately there is no hard requirement set by USPS either way, however they do recommend, that if you are unable to ship on the date of the label, to use your label on the next available shipping date.

It’s typically left up to the discretion of the carrier and/or post office as to whether they will accept packages with a past ship date.

According to the USPS website: When creating an online label, you are responsible for providing accurate information when selecting the day of mailing. An electronic record is generated on the ship date indicating that your package has been mailed and the Postal Service is expecting to see your package that day.

As a workaround, when your label date is far beyond the current date, you might consider cancelling the old label, generating a new one with the correct date, printing it to PDF, and emailing to your framing partner.

Thank you and happy shipping!
