Delete old / obsolete products and bulk edit via import

Thank you for adding an inventory feature to shippingeasy - brilliant. One thing that we have been frustrated with is the existing products, which were automatically generated for every order placed. We have many obsolete products that we need to get rid of. I know there is a feature to make inactive, but they still show up on exports (downloads).

Another part of being able to delete old inventory would be to bulk edit via import. We would like to see support for changing fields (Stock, Name, Warehouse/BIN) on Upload products. Currently with 1 x 1 editing, this is too time consuming.

Hi Paul, 

Thank you for your interest in our new inventory management solution. I apologize that you're running into some issues with getting your products updated in our product catalog. The reason that we only allow you to mark your products as inactive rather then deleting them from our system is that there may be old order data tied to these SKUs. So, we don't want to permanently remove them from our application. 

That said, I understand that you do not necessarily need your inactive SKUs to be included in the products CSV exported from ShippingEasy. Would you find it more useful if the inactive SKUs were removed from this export? Or would you prefer if an additional column was added to the export that indicated which SKUs were active/inactive?

As for bulk editing your products, you're able to update both your active and inactive SKUs via our CSV upload. This includes updating the product stock, name and warehouse/bin. This is explained in some more detail here: https://support.shippingeasy.com/hc/en-us/articles/204829605

If you're not able to update your SKUs via this process then I would suggest you reach out to our Customer Success team via the links displayed in the top left corner of your account. You should be able to update each of these fields in bulk via a CSV. Alternatively if you're trying to complete another action then please respond back to this post with additional information.

Thank you for the reply. If old data cannot be removed, it would be beneficial to have a column in the export designating Active/Inactive - that way they can be filtered out for inventory auditing purposes.

Hi Paul & Randy,

Thank you for this additional information. I have added a request to our inventory queue to indicate which SKUs are active or inactive in our products export.

In the meantime, I will direct any customers with similar requests to comment or follow on this post as well. Feedback helps us to learn how many customers are interested in each feature and prioritize what we should work on next. I will update this thread again once this work has been prioritized.

UPDATE: ShippingEasy retired the Inventory Management subscription in June of 2020. Our Product Catalog stores a comprehensive list of the products you sell and allows you to add your product information to leverage product and SKU details to ship more efficiently. Learn more about our Product Catalog.

Existing Inventory Management subscribers will still have the ability to use the features specific to Inventory Management, however, we are no longer supporting new subscribers.
