Integrate with UPS -- UPS Surepost vs Negotiated Rates

I've just recently signed up with UPS for what was supposed to be UPS Surepost. On his own, my account rep later checked for website cart (Shopify) compatibility and after realizing that UPS Surepost API didn't work with Shopify, he decided to change my agreement (as best I understand it) to provide me the pricing benefits of UPS Surepost but with the service benefits of UPS Ground. If I want to create a shipment through UPS, I'd have to select "UPS Ground" service, but the pricing reflected is the same as if it was UPS Surepost -- negotiated rates and no residential surcharge.

That said, when I integrate my UPS account with shippingeasy, do I check the box for UPS Surepost (since I have Surepost rates)? If I don't check it, will shippingeasy know not to add the residential surcharge? Also, do I check the box for negotiated rates?

Hello Mati, and thank you for posting to our community!

Yes, you would definitely want to check the box for negotiated rates when connecting your UPS account to ShippingEasy.

In regards to the Surepost option, you can check that and if you don't actually have those rates, it shouldn't cause any issues.

I would suspect that you will also want to select UPS ground in ShippingEasy to receive the special negotiated rates that were setup for you. However, since UPS will bill you directly for UPS labels created in ShippingEasy, you may want to check with them directly to confirm all of this over the API.

Thank you.
