UPS Integration Requirements

Connection Requirements:

  • An active UPS account

  • UPS account number

  • Rate Type

  • Most recent invoice

Shipment Requirements:

  • UPS requires a Ship From Company Name. Read the Assign Ship From Addresses Guide to learn more.

  • UPS uses dimensional weight (DIM) when calculating rates. When creating the label, always include the shipment's dimensions and weight to receive the correct rates. Incorrect weight or dimensions may result in post-shipping adjustments on your UPS invoice.

Special Considerations for UPS

Prohibited items, restrictions, and dangerous/hazardous goods:

  • UPS has set forth specific restrictions on goods shipped using UPS from ShippingEasy. It is the shipper's responsibility to ensure their shipments do not violate these UPS guidelines. Violation of these restrictions may result in your ShippingEasy account being banned from using UPS from ShippingEasy.

  • Shipping Vape Products may result in your ShippingEasy account being banned from using UPS from ShippingEasy and a $150 fine per package.

Multiple UPS Accounts

Add multiple UPS accounts in two ways:

Adding Insurance to UPS Shipments

  • When using negotiated rates, insurance costs will display within the total rate.

    ODET-UPSNegRates__Insurance__MRK.pdf
  • When negotiated rates are not used, the insurance cost will be broken out in the total rate.

    ODET-_UPSNoNegRates__Insurance__MRK.pdf

Saturday Delivery

  • Enable this option for guaranteed package delivery on a Saturday. You must select this option to guarantee Saturday delivery. If this option is not selected, the package will not be eligible for a UPS Guaranteed Service refund, even if the estimated delivery date shows an estimated delivery on a Saturday.

See the UPS page on Saturday Delivery for more information and restrictions.

UPS Rate and Billing Information

  • Once you create a shipment, you are billed by UPS directly based on the rates you negotiated with UPS.

  • When a package is delivered, the mail carrier will determine the final cost, including any surcharges. If you are being charged a different amount in UPS from what is shown in ShippingEasy, there may be additional surcharges for your shipment. Learn more about UPS surcharges.

  • The rates you receive for UPS are only quotes. UPS reserves the right to add additional fees to a shipment after delivery.

Customs Forms with UPS Paperless Invoicing

  • UPS Paperless Invoicing is a free service that eliminates the need for paper invoices by electronically transferring your international shipping information to UPS, thereby expediting the clearance process for Customs officials. Contact your UPS representative to have this enabled.

  • International labels will have "EDI" on the label in lieu of printing customs forms.

  • UPS Paperless Invoicing also provides an electronic Certificate of Origin for shipments to and from the United States and Canada. The Certificate can help you get preferential duty treatment.

  • When shipping First Class International Mail to any destination,  or Priority Mail International to Military Mail and U.S. Territories, the total value of the shipment cannot be more than $400. The value would need to be adjusted or, depending on the package details, the order could be split.

UPS Paperless Invoice Labels Must Be Shipped Within 14 Days

UPS requires international packages that use paperless invoicing (EDI) be shipped within 14 days of creating the label. This ensures the shipment details are still in their system during the parcel’s transit to its destination. If a package has not been shipped within 14 days of label creation, UPS recommends voiding the label and creating a new one to decrease the chances of holds at customs.
