Return the edit customer notes section back into the drop down menu from the order page

This item was very helpful to us when customers had changes or customization requests that they either emailed about or called about. Now that it is not available in the drop-down menu as a pop-up, you have to go into the edit order section on a new page. This makes it more timely and also causes you to loose any filtering done for viewing and shipping orders once you are done editing. Please bring back. Thanks.

Lillian,

Im happy to forward your request to move the "Edit Customer Notes" area back into the popup instead of to the Edit page. I can see how this would be more efficient for you.

Thanks!

Lillian,

To be clear, are you referring to the to the internal order notes. As far as I'm aware, users have never been able to edit the customer comments from the orders page. However, you can edit the internal order notes. When we built the Edit Orders page, we did not remove any existing functionality. Instead, we just provided another place/screen to make order edits.

No I am referring to customer comments. Under the drop down menu next to each order there was the option to edit notes and when you click on that it had customer comments and below that internal notes. That option is gone and now you can only add if you go in and edit the order.

If it has to stay under edit order, it would be nice if when you saved the order changes, it would go back to whatever filters you had before you clicked on that screen. Problem now is that when you filter your orders and click on an order to edit, it then takes you back to all orders and you have to filter your orders again.

This is time consuming when there are multiple orders to add comments to.

Lillian,

Thanks for the clarification. May I ask why you want all of these order updates to be listed specifically in the customer comments field? Is it so that the people responsible for packing and shipping the boxes know what the correct order items are? If so, then you could potentially use the internal notes field instead. Internal notes will flag an order with a comment in the same way that the customer comments flag an order (just using a different icon). Additionally, if you're using the customer comments because you want the updated comments to appear on their packing slips, then I would suggest you add {{shipment.internal_order_notes}} to your default packing slip templates. Any comments added to the internal order notes will be displayed.
Additionally, I completely understand your need for "sticky" filters and highly recommend posting to this existing forum thread: https://support.shippingeasy.com/hc/communities/public/questions/201380069-Order-Store-Filtering-Persistency-Sticky-Filters-?locale=en-us - This is currently a feature on our radar but is not in our immediate plans yet. Of course, the more interest we see in this feature, the more likely it is to get prioritized.

I hope this is somewhat helpful!
