More freedom for reporting/export

Just allowing more flexible manipulation of the data already in ShippingEasy to be able to create more flexible reports and exports would bring more customers to SE excellent shipping system. It is sad, that while having a lot of power in some areas, SE is lacking so much in reporting/export!
I am using Monsoon StoneEdge for our order and inventory management, and would love to integrate (for now) and move away (later) with/from Monsoon. The only problem I have is that I cannot export appropriate order data at order item level to be imported into Monsoon. I was excited to see "Custom" under "Reports" section, only to be disappointed to see that what "custom" meant was the custom sets of columns, and nothing more....

Hi Gregory. I know that one of our Product Managers is gathering information right now on what our customers are looking for in the way of reporting. Do you mind clarifying the exact type of report you want to make? Are you wanting specific columns? If not, what do you want to be able to specify?

Hi Rachael!

Lots of online systems allow users to pick and chose the columns they
want for their report from the list of available ones, and then save it
as a template for future use. Not that difficult to do. ShippingEasy
would be amazing system, if reporting (or export) capabilities were
there. Currently those are rudimentary at best unfortunately.
It is amazing, as import functionality seems to be great...

Hi Greg,

I am not sure I understand what exactly you are needing but it sounds like you want to build custom reports which is a feature we currently have. After you have created it, you can save it for future use as a template and even schedule the report to be emailed to you.

If this is not what you were looking for, can you clarify exactly what columns you would want to see and any other changes you'd prefer?

Build custom reports has unbelievably limited functionality!
I cannot create a report with order detail level. Your custom report
crams item descriptions in one line, delimiting them by comma, while it
crams item SKUs into one field on one line delimiting by spaces!

Greg,

Are the fields you are wanting for all reports, shipped orders, or unshipped orders? Unfortunately, without further elaboration on what exactly you are needing, I am likely not going to be able to provide much assistance when relaying this to our developers. If you are able to further describe the fields you are wanting and changes you want to see, etc., one of our Project Managers would be happy to get on a call with you to discuss.

Rachael,

I think that I explained everything just find - I would need to be able
to get not just an order level details in the report, but item level
details, so if order contains 3 items - SKU1, SKU2, SKU3, then the
export file for this order should contain 3 lines, each of which would
include order level data - order number, order date, etc., and the item
level data - item SKU, item name, item price, etc.

How much more specific should I be? I do not know your database
structure, so I cannot guide you on what queries to run, but saying that
I need item level data for orders in my export file (report) is normally
sufficient for people who ever dealt with any database systems.

Yes, we are in a similar situation too. Just two changes would provide us with everything we would need. Adding in the line price would be the most helpful. But what Greg is indicating would be great.

I completely agree.  Shipstation who we moved from did a much better job on the reporting side of things.  I like the shipping easy program a lot, but I feel like all the development is going toward things that are good like Customer Manager, but some of the big quarks with Shipping Easy are not being addressed at all like the very poor reporting side of things.

Information is huge for a seller, and if there isn't a good way to get that info, then we have to go somewhere else.  I am very close to going back to Shipstation just because I feel like although they lack on inventory, customer management, etc, at least I can download customized reports that help me with the information I need.
