Etsy

Etsy is the premier marketplace for creative entrepreneurs selling vintage and handmade items. Esty offers sellers their 'best-in-class' search and discovery tools to increase sales, in-app notes from buyers, and carrier tracking information. Etsy integrates directly with ShippingEasy to automatically import orders so you can quickly start shipping.

Etsy Integration Requirements

Connection Requirements:

  • You must have a live account with Etsy.

Order Import Requirements:

  • Orders placed in the last 14 days will appear on the ORDERS page in ShippingEasy.

If you have orders older than 14 days, you can create manual orders for these shipments. Learn more about creating manual orders.

Connect an Etsy Store to ShippingEasy

Integration with Etsy is via oAuth. You will be directed to Etsy to login and accept the third-party API agreement.

How to connect your Etsy store to an existing ShippingEasy account

  1. Select Etsy from the Platform drop-down menu.

Etsy Order Data

Etsy Standard Data Supported

ShippingEasy's Etsy integration supports the following features and order data fields:

Messages from Buyers Will Display in ShippingEasy

Any optional order notes that a buyer adds to an Etsy order during the checkout process (referred to as "message from buyer") will be transferred and displayed in ShippingEasy.

This integration allows you to define the Status Mappings for the store connection.

ShippingEasy will import the customer's email address with the order and can send customer shipment confirmation and delivery emails, which are configured in your Store Settings.

ShippingEasy will import the customer's phone number.

ShippingEasy will import the shipping method chosen by the customer at the time of checkout.

ShippingEasy will import the payment method used to pay for the order.

ShippingEasy will import discount and coupon information for the order.

ShippingEasy can determine if an order was placed as a gift.

Notes and comments can only be viewed in ShippingEasy.

ShippingEasy will import notes left by the customer at checkout or added to the order once it has been imported to ShippingEasy.

ShippingEasy allows you to consolidate multiple orders from a customer when they go to the same address.

ShippingEasy can split an order to accommodate changes in stock, different shipping locations, or multiple packaging needs.

Supported Order Statuses

Only unshipped Etsy orders will sync into ShippingEasy. Etsy order statuses map to ShippingEasy in the following way:

Etsy status

ShippingEasy status

Awaiting Payment

Awaiting Payment

Awaiting Shipment

Awaiting Fulfillment

The status Awaiting Payment is not automatically included in order downloads. You can manually select to include these orders when your Etsy store syncs in your STORES & ORDERS settings. Learn more about selecting order statuses to sync to ShippingEasy.

Etsy Integration Notes

Email Notifications

Customer shipment and delivery notification emails for Etsy orders should be sent from Etsy only. Third parties like ShippingEasy will no longer send customers shipment or delivery notifications for Etsy orders. We recommend turning off the email notifications sent from ShippingEasy.

To disable shipment confirmation emails, uncheck the box next to Shipment Confirmation Email in your Etsy Notifications settings.

Shipment confirmation email unchecked on Notifications tab on Stores & Orders page

Inventory Management with Etsy

  • ShippingEasy will only import and update inventory for Etsy products that are configured with a SKU. The Etsy listing needs to be published and active for ShippingEasy to download it to the product catalog and link to it for inventory updates. Both listings and variations will need SKUs. Learn more about adding SKUs to your listings in Etsy.

  • If you're having issues with ShippingEasy not displaying SKUs in orders from your Etsy store, the issue could be related to the permissions set on your Etsy store. In order for ShippingEasy to access product SKU information in your Etsy store, we first need to gain permission to do so.

To accomplish this, you'll need to temporarily remove the ShippingEasy application from your Etsy store and then reauthorize your Etsy store within ShippingEasy (which automatically adds the ShippingEasy application back to your Etsy store). Learn more about removing an integration from Etsy and reconnecting an archived store within ShippingEasy.

Syncing Orders

  • The receipt number from Etsy is displayed as the order number in ShippingEasy.

  • If you cancel an order in Etsy, it will NOT automatically be canceled in ShippingEasy. ShippingEasy syncs orders in a read-only format, so once an order has synced, ShippingEasy will not be able to update the order based on changes that occur within your store.

Editing Orders and Shipments

If you change the recipient address for an order in Etsy, that change will update in ShippingEasy during each automatic sync once per hour or via a manual sync.

Orders will NOT update if:

  • The order is moved from the ORDERS page and later returned. Orders must remain on the ORDERS page to receive updates via the API during automatic sync.

  • If you manually adjust an order in ShippingEasy (add a line item, remove a line item, edit the address, etc.). We consider ShippingEasy to be the main source of information and will not check for updates within Etsy on future store syncs.

Learn more about what order updates sync with ShippingEasy.

Combining and Splitting Orders

  • If you combine two orders in ShippingEasy, both orders will NOT be updated in Etsy. This would need to be done manually.

If you combine orders in ShippingEasy, you may need to refund the extra shipping charges to your customer.

  • If you split an order in ShippingEasy, we will NOT update both tracking numbers to Etsy because Etsy does not have partial shipments.

There is no option in Etsy to purchase multiple items and send them to multiple recipients. Each overall order has a single recipient and should be shipped in full.

If you split orders in ShippingEasy, you may need to manually update the shipment information to Etsy.
