eBay
eBay is a popular global marketplace for selling products that offers seller protection and promoted advertising. ShippingEasy integrates directly with eBay and will automatically import orders from your eBay account into our application so you can quickly start shipping. Additionally, eBay Global Shipping Program labels can be processed through ShippingEasy.
When integrating, eBay will require that you agree to grant ShippingEasy access to your eBay account. eBay may ask you to answer some security questions to verify your account before allowing it to connect with ShippingEasy. This is to ensure privacy and security when connecting your store with a third-party application such as ShippingEasy.
How to connect your eBay to an existing ShippingEasy account
-
Select eBay from the Platform drop-down menu.
-
Fill in your eBay username. Complete your store integration by logging into eBay and granting access to ShippingEasy.
-
If you've already logged in, you'll be taken directly to a screen titled "Grant Application Access: ShippingEasy". Click the I Agree button at the bottom of this screen.
Note
eBay may ask you to answer some security questions to verify your account before allowing it to connect with ShippingEasy. This is to ensure privacy and security when connecting your store with a third-party application such as ShippingEasy.
That's it! Your store is connected to ShippingEasy!
Integrate Your eBay Stores Separately
With eBay, each store you sell from is unique and is seen as a separate store within ShippingEasy. This means that if you have two stores under different email addresses, you are required to integrate both separately. You cannot combine multiple eBay stores into one integration.
ShippingEasy's eBay integration supports the following features and order data fields:
On eBay, applications such as ShippingEasy must obtain a user authentication token for each store via the user sign-in and consent process. ShippingEasy is able to obtain this token whenever you connect or reconnect your store.
The user authentication token is required so that eBay can pass orders from your eBay store across to ShippingEasy. As the tokens are only valid for 18 months, ShippingEasy will alert customers 30 days before the expiration date.
If you do not update your authentication token before the expiration date, your eBay orders will stop appearing in ShippingEasy. Learn more about eBay authentication tokens.
To renew your eBay authentication token in ShippingEasy:
-
Click the Click here to renew authentication token! link under your eBay store.
ShippingEasy will prompt you to reconnect your eBay store, as the user authentication token is created during the user sign-in and consent process.
-
Enter your eBay Username (the Platform field will automatically be set to eBay). Click Save.
Now that your eBay store is reconnected, ShippingEasy can access your new authentication token and import your eBay orders.
The eBay Global Shipping Program allows eBay sellers to sell to international customers without having to cover international postage. International customers will place the orders with their international address, but the merchant will send it to the eBay distribution center, and then eBay sends it overseas.
Orders processed using eBay Global Shipping are handled the same way as a normal domestic order in ShippingEasy. A domestic label and domestic tracking number are generated for the eBay distribution center.
The eBay Global Shipping Program then handles all of the international shipping processes, including customs information. You pay eBay the international shipping costs while you receive the cost that you request for a domestic order.
Create a label for an order in the eBay Global Shipping Program through ShippingEasy
-
Locate the order on the ORDERS page in ShippingEasy and process the label as you usually would for a domestic shipment.
-
Once purchased and printed, ShippingEasy will update eBay with the domestic tracking number. This will prompt eBay to generate a global tracking number, which they will supply to your customers.
Shipment Confirmation Emails for Customers
ShippingEasy will not notify your customer when an eBay Global Shipping order has been processed. eBay sellers should include the following information when notifying customers:
-
Customer's name
-
Order reference number
-
Address of the eBay US shipping center
By default, ShippingEasy automatically sends shipment confirmation emails to your customer once their order has been shipped.
Any email communications sent from ShippingEasy to your customers must be in compliance with eBay's member-to-member policy. This means the emails cannot contain contact information like email addresses, phone numbers, or website URLs. Additionally, if you are using ShippingEasy's Branded Tracking Page, you cannot include non-eBay store URLs or social media links.
eBay will block email communications - including emails from ShippingEasy - that violate their member-to-member policy. To ensure your shipment and delivery confirmation emails make it to your customers successfully, follow the guidelines provided below for both email templates and your Branded Tracking Page.
Create a Custom Email Template for eBay Orders
If you haven't already, create a custom email template that will apply to your eBay store orders. If you have created a custom template already, edit the template to remove the details outlined below.
Create an eBay compliant email template
-
Go to SETTINGS and click EMAIL TEMPLATES under Account Settings.
-
Click the pencil icon next to your eBay custom email template to edit the template.
-
Remove any non-compliant information from the template, including:
-
Store Phone
-
Store Email
-
Store Website (unless it directs to your eBay store)
-
Store social media links
-
-
Click Update Template to save your changes.
Certain stores, such as eBay, require that for each order you include their return policy on packing slips. We make it easy to automatically assign a specific packing slip template with the return policy to those orders.
First, you will need to create your custom packing slip template and add in the Return Policy.
Automate your custom packing slip for eBay orders
-
In the field Rule Name, enter a name that describes this rule, such as "eBay store rule".
-
Set the "IF" condition to Store is equal to eBay. Store | Is equal to | eBay
-
Set the "THEN" action to your custom eBay packing slip using the Set final packing slip template option. This condition prevents the overriding of that packing slip by any subsequent shipping rule. Set final packing slip template | custom eBay Packing Slip Template
-
Click Save rule. This rule will be now applied to all future shipments that are synced to ShippingEasy.
eBay Buyer ID
The Buyer ID is the eBay User Name of the person buying the item on eBay. The Buyer ID displayed in ShippingEasy is linked directly to the buyer's Feedback Profile in eBay.
By clicking on the Buyer ID, you'll be taken to the buyer's Feedback Profile page in eBay, where you'll be able to review your buyer's eBay profile and feedback ratings in more detail.
Using the Buyer ID in ShippingEasy
You can select the Buyer ID column on any platform; however, it is a feature that is intended for eBay users. If you select the Buyer ID for a platform other than eBay, we will use the best option that we have on hand. (For example, a Magento Buyer ID will show the customer's email address.)
You cannot search for a specific Buyer ID in ShippingEasy.
eBay Item Number
The Item Number is the eBay identification number assigned to each of your eBay listings. It is created automatically, whether you are selling an item via an Auction or Buy it Now sale. The Item Number displayed in ShippingEasy is linked directly to your eBay listing.
By clicking on the Item Number, you'll be taken to the eBay listing page for the order, where you'll be able to review your order item in more detail.
As with the Buyer ID, the Item Number column is intended for eBay users. If you select the Item Number for a platform other than eBay, no value will be displayed. You cannot search for a specific eBay Item Number in ShippingEasy.
Multiple Item Numbers
Only one Item Number can be displayed per eBay order. If an order contains multiple items from multiple different eBay listings, then no Item Number will be displayed in ShippingEasy or linked back to eBay.
Syncing Orders
-
ShippingEasy displays the Sales Record Number of an eBay listing in the Order Number column on the ORDERS page. In the Alt Order Number column, the eBay Order Number will be displayed.
-
For orders that are combined within eBay before coming into ShippingEasy, ShippingEasy will display a single order number.
ShippingEasy will store the original order numbers together as a hybrid number in the Alternate Order Number field. This number can be searched from the Global Search bar.
-
If an order has been updated after syncing in ShippingEasy, some changes will be updated to ShippingEasy. For a list of what changes will update, see our article Edit Orders in Store - Changes that Update to ShippingEasy | FAQs.
-
The Ship By Date column on the ShippingEasy ORDERS page indicates the latest date you should ship an order to ensure your package arrives at your buyer within the estimated delivery window. This column helps prioritize how and in what order you fulfill your unshipped orders.
Canceling, Combining, and Splitting Orders
-
If an order is canceled in eBay by the seller, the order will automatically be removed from ShippingEasy.
-
When you refund an order in eBay, it is moved from the Awaiting Shipment status to Awaiting Payment in ShippingEasy.
-
If you combine two or more eBay orders in ShippingEasy, ShippingEasy will update each order to the Shipped status. However, if a service that includes tracking is selected, only the master order will be updated with the tracking number in eBay.
-
If you split the quantity of an eBay order in ShippingEasy, only the most recently shipped order will update eBay with a tracking number.
If you split line items, each tracking number will return to the original order.
There is no concept of partial shipments on eBay. There is no option to purchase multiple items and send them to multiple recipients. Each overall order has a single recipient.
