Color of highlighted item to ship is too light!

Would you consider making the super light pink just a tad darker. It is so hard to distinguish from the other items. It would reduce the risk of confusing orders if it were clearer which item you were selecting to ship.
Thanks for you consideration.

Hello all,

Great news! We have released an update to this feature and now highlight the order that is selected on the Ready to Ship screen in a dark blue color! This makes it easier to identify which order is selected.

We greatly appreciate all of the feedback we have received.  Your active participation helped us to arrive at this change. When picking a solution- we arrived at this solution as it is not disruptive to the shipping process but is effective in highlighting the shipment.

We hope you all enjoy this new feature and it helps to ease the confusion as to what shipment is being actively worked on!

Andrew,

When you mention the pink, do you mean the pink selected for categories? If so, the pink on our screens are much brighter than you describe. This sounds like it may be a computer brightness/resolution issue.

Or, do you mean the very pale yellow that we show on any check marked order on the orders screen?

If I misunderstood your request, can you please clarify?

Thanks!

I agree. The highlighting of the order being worked on, as it appears in the left column of the "ready to ship" page is far too light. It looks pink to me too :D

Karen,

Would you mind clarifying where you see the pink? A screenshot link would be great! You can use TinyPic if you want (http://tinypic.com/).

I guess it is yellow. I think I wrote that observation when I wasn't logged in. In any case it would be great if it could offer more striking contrast. I have made a few shipping errors that might have been avoided if it were more obvious which item I was currently shipping.

Andrew,

If you have a screenshot of exactly what you are discussing, that would be very helpful!

Thanks!

I agree. Often noticed this, but never thought to ask to get it fixed... it's not a screen issue. In this screenshot, you can see the blues and greens are vibrant, but that pink shade on the Jake & Amos product is not. Makes me squint sometimes to see which order is selected. I'd suggest putting a bright red or blue outline around the order, rather than shading it. Then you won't have a problem with text blending into the shading color.
Well, I don't see an attachment function here, so this is the link to the screenshot http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c50/engine411/lonnie159_zps594f8a63.jpg

I think the confusion about whether the box is pink or yellow has to do with the viewing angle. My display which sits at eye level on my work desk shows the box as a pale yellow, but viewed from the side or above it looks more like a pale salmon color. Since I am often working standing up, and not looking at my monitor perfectly perpendicular to the screen, the selection box can be even more difficult to distinguish from the other orders. Lonnie's suggestion of using a dark outline around the selected order would work great to set it apart. I continue to make shipping errors based on the subtlety of the color differences.

Hello Everyone

I've contacted shipping easy years ago with this issue and shipping easy has not figure it out and the blog post continues.

This is very much a problem,  We have actually filled the wrong order and sent it to the wrong person because of this problem.

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry you've had some issues with this. Please rest assured that we do hear your feedback. We really don't hear this very often and when we do, it typically has not caused any serious issues. We did look into whether or not this was something we could prioritize in the past, but there really hasn't been enough need for it yet.

Additionally, while we could look into changing the color, the vibrancy of the color is really mostly dependent on each individual user's computer settings. It can depend on screen quality, screen type, resolution, brightness settings, operating system, etc. With all of these different settings, and the various combinations each system can have, it becomes difficult to troubleshoot.

With that, I would like to suggest playing around with your setting combinations to see if you can increase the vibrancy on a per-computer basis. Unfortunately, there really isn't a definitive recommendation we can give as, again, each computer can have completely different settings.

If you are successful in improving the vibrancy, please feel free to share in this thread for other users. Thanks!

LOL, this is not just one person having problems with this issue there's many of us and all you have to say is that it does not matter, that there's no reason to put this as a priority and for us to figure it out and do your job, why don't you just say that your company SHIPPING EASY does not know how to fix it, get better technicians.

Basically Shipping Easy's analysis is your computer monitor is the problem. We should all try to make adjustments to our monitors, rather than have Shippng Easy make one simple color edit to the html code. I'm not going to tweak my monitor just for this one concern. LAME RESPONSE.

I agree, it's a constant battle and my staff complains non-stop, and errors get made.  I don't think shippingeasy should cater to people with computers in the dark ages ~ I've seen this problem across different macs with different OS and 2 PCs, one new and one old.  It's just exactly the same.  So I agree the old excuse about how some monitors might not look right if they make  changes is just BS.

How about making the background black and the lettering white?  That would even work on dinosaurs.

Suggesting that customers with decent machines adjust their vibrancy to throw off all the other colors they work with all day is just ludicrous.

To me, this is the #1 thing that needs to be fixed.  I don't care about other functionality until I am not losing sleep worrying that the customer gets the right order.

Thank you for the time you've each taken to voice your concerns. I assure you that our last update was made with the best of intentions. Though, it's also clear that we have not fully understood the scope and impact of using light yellow to highlight shipments. Your active participation in this discussion has helped to clarify this - as well as sparked on our own internal discussions.

We are earnestly revisiting the way that orders are highlighted on the Ready to Ship page. Before making a change, we need to ensure that it will be both effective and not disruptive to current users. Finding this solution, and then building it, will take some time. But in the meantime, we are interested in continuing a productive discussion.

Here's a quick recap of the ideas that have been posted to date:

  • Darker yellow
  • Bright red or blue outline
  • Black background with white text

If anyone has other specific suggestions, please share them.

Thank you, my shipper came to me first thing this morning telling me how much easier it is to process orders.  This really does make a big difference.
