Thank you for your feedback. The way that our product catalog search works today is different for the SKU and product name. When you search by SKU this is "left-anchored". So, the SKU must start-with the value you're searching in order to display result/s. When you search by the product name this is "unanchored". So, the product name only needs to contain the value you're searching in order display result/s.
It sounds like you would like the SKU search to also be "unanchored". Is that correct? Alternatively, is there another value in the product name that matches or aligns to the item number that could be used to search your products in the meantime?
