Update order changes from my store to ShippingEasy

We understand that there are many instances an order and/or address will change after the information has already been pulled into ShippingEasy.  While we recommend using order notes to track these edits, we keep hearing feedback that you would prefer to see this information updated real-time to ShippingEasy.  We get it!  After all, this would make shipping easier, which is a common goal for us all.

Our development team is focused on building the features that you need most.  If this is one of those features, please let us know so that we can prioritize it.  Just leave a comment or "like" this idea.

I really need this!  To be most efficient while using shipping easy (SE), I currently have to use a 2 monitor setup.  On 1 monitor I have SE up. On the 2nd monitor I have the actual orders up  in my shopping cart application..  The fact that SE does not have a "refresh order" option I have to manually verify that no info has changed...    If anything has changed with the shipping info I have to then manually edit the shipping info in SE.   But that is not the worst of it....  What if the order info has changed?  SE does not allow me to edit order info.  Then if I continue to ship the order, the customer will receive an email saying there package has shipped but with all the wrong order info.  The customer then contacts me worried that I am sending them the wrong order.  I then have to apologize to them that the shipping software that I am using does not update any order changes, and assure them they are receiving the correct items.

Hi Brook,

Thanks for providing the feedback. When we think about "refresh order" functionality in ShippingEasy, one of the constraints we are up against is the functionality provided by the various store platforms. To prevent us from slowing down the store's servers (and our own), we try to minimize the data that we request.

For example, Volusion provides us the date/time an order was created in their system, but not when that order was last updated (with, for example, new shipping information).

So for some of the store platforms, we will have to be creative about how we would implement a feature like this. I would appreciate any answers you could provide to these questions:

  1. For platforms like Volusion where we probably won't be able to automatically get updated order information, would it be useful if you could select an order from the ShippingEasy Orders page and then request an update of *just* that order?  So you would still probably need a 2 monitor setup, but it would reduce the manual data entry.

  2. Thanks for putting in the comment over on https://support.shippingeasy.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/201379389-Email-Notification-Settings-DONE- - if we had that sort of feature do you think that would reduce the number of phone calls that you are getting?

Thanks,

A1. Yes. This is what I was in visioning.  I know to automatically query the server, constantly checking for updates to intense.  So to be able to force a "Repeat Retrieve Info from connected Store" process for selected orders would be perfect.  I personally speed the majority of my time in the "Ready to Ship" module.  So that is where I would like to be able to click some sort of option to be able to run the requested process.

Q2. Thanks for putting in the comment over on https://support.shippingeasy.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/201379389-Email-Notification-Settings-DONE- - if we had that sort of feature do you think that would reduce the number of phone calls that you are getting?

A2.  Yes. If I could prohibit the client from getting any detailed order info and pricing would be great.  They would not be alarmed for any reason.  They would just receive an email Saying Order # whatever has been shipped, where it has been shipped to, address it was shipped to, etc...

YES this would be VERY helpful. Many times I put orders in and they are for a later ship date (sometimes several months)  and the order always changes
