Packaging Rule

Answered

In an effort to streamline our shipping volume, it would be very helpful to be able to establish rules to allow certain items/quantities to be shipped in pre-determined packages, based on packages established in the Package Setup in Shipment Settings. It seems that most of the "IF" criteria is already configured in RULES, but the "THEN" criteria for Package Name needs to be added, linking to the various package names saved in Package Setup.

Hi Gina,

Thank you for posting to our forums!

We have a solution that should work for the situation you described.  You can create a Shipping Rule to apply a Saved Carrier Selection which includes packaging.

First, set up your Saved Selection(s):  How to: Save my Carrier Selections for future shipments

Then, create a ShippingRule that uses your Saved Carrier Selection:  How to: Create a Shipping Rule

You can see Saved Carrier Selection is listed in the available THEN actions:

What Shipping Rules are available for set-up?

If you need further information about Shipping Rules, I recommend taking a look at this article from our Knowledge Base:  FAQs: Shipping Rules / Mapping

Since you are currently on a paid plan, you can use the links at the top of the app to contact us with any further questions.  Thanks!

Hi there, I would like to follow up on this question.

I understand how to create Saved Carrier Selections and setting up rules to apply save Packages.  However, the problem is what if we have more than 10 Saved Carrier Selections (that is the limit right?)?

If we have 100 SKUs, all with different types of packages we want to ship with based on certain sizes of the SKU and quantity, that will easily be more than 10 Save Carrier Selections.

Hello Alex, and thank you for posting to our community!

While the Quick Ship menu is limited to 10 domestic and 10 international Saved Selections, your account can certainly save more that you could still access from the Saved Selections menu in the Ready to Ship page, explained in the link below.

How to: Access my Saved Carrier Selections

Please keep in mind that Saved Selections include the Carrier Service and the Package information. Saved Selections are useful so you don't have to make the same selections on the READY TO SHIP page again and again.

That would be a little different than just the different packaging options you might have for each product, under the Package Setup page. If need be you can also set up shipping rules to assign your packaging and Saved Selections to your orders automatically. The link below explains more.

Best of Rules: Assign a package and dimensions to my shipments

Thank you.
