Select Products and Create a PO

Completed

The Inventory function would be way better if there was a way to select on the items in the low inventory report or in the product list and create a purchase order or even multiple purchase orders.

Hi Travis & Randy,

Thank you for your feedback. We are actively looking into this request and hope to make an update in the coming months.

If we were to expose your assigned suppliers on the product catalog would it be helpful to add a create PO button on this page? Ideally you would filter to your low stock products, select a supplier and then select "create PO". Is this the sort of funcationality that you're after?

Yes, I agree and this should be a high priority to complete.  It would benefit our business greatly.

This would be an excellent feature. As a suggestion, I highly recommend adding a minimum order requirement to Suppliers. This requirement may be a dollar amount, minimum quantity or both.

Tessa,

The only thing I am concerned about is... I would like the system to help me select the supplier.  If I have 3 suppliers and each have a different cost I would want the system to select the least expensive source.  If that supplier was out of stock, or I did not have enough for a minimum order I might then consider another supplier by adding it manually to that suppliers PO.

Like Travis said, let us select the items and the system create the PO's.

I think adding minimum quantities and minimum dollars to suppliers PO is a great opportunity for this application.

Hi Randy & Michael,

Apologies for not responding sooner. Now that we've added support for bulk assigning suppliers to products via CSV upload, we're next planning add the ability to bulk select products and add them to a purchase order.

I assume any minimum order quantities or dollar amounts would need to be specified on an individual product/supplier basis. So, for each supplier assigned to a product there should be two additional values/fields added. Would you want these field to be added to the supplier table displayed on the individual product view page, like Unit Cost and Supplier SKU are today?

No, This is a PO level function.  I would not find this valuable at the item level.  I would find this valuable information when I see a recommendation to create a PO when I am low and after the PO is created.

Thanks,

Randy

Hi Randy,

Thank you for this additional information. To clarify, does this mean you'd want to save/setup minimum order quantities or dollar amounts on each of your suppliers? Then, when you select to create a PO ShippingEasy should display show the minimum amounts or warn you if the values entered don't meet the set requirements for the selected supplier?

If I'm still not understanding this request correctly then I'd be happy to arrange a quick phone call to discuss further. Please email me directly if you think we need to review this further.

I like what you guys did with this.  It makes it easier.  Now we just need some way to export PO info to excel so I can do cost analysis on it.

Hi Travis,

Thanks for the feedback. I'm very glad to hear that you're utilizing our new "Create Purchase Order" feature located in the product catalog. For anyone else who would like to learn some more about how to select products in bulk and creating purchase orders there is more information on this new feature documented here: https://support.shippingeasy.com/hc/en-us/articles/210526126

In regards to the request to export purchase order information into excel I can see that a separate post has been created. I will post an update there: https://support.shippingeasy.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115009203126-PO-Reports

I like how the new PO functionality/filtering works. Going back to Randy's request for minimum total purchase order value, that would be beneficial, but it would also be beneficial to have a per item attribute that can be set for minimum re-order amount. For example, I know I always order 10 of product x. When I run the low inventory report and then generate a PO from it, it would be nice if the system populated product x's order amount to 10 (versus 1), or even better, if it used this value, and then deducted the current inventory level and populated the re-order amount with the difference. This would at least give a good starting point when generating a PO, versus starting from all 1s. It's common for us to have 150+ items on a PO, so populating all of these with a value of 1 just means that we then need a separate report or spreadsheet showing what levels we would normally order. Also, this new attribute would be different than threshold as we're using threshold simply to trigger a low inventory report. Cost per unit is also important to show in the PO, but it looks like this field is already there.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your feedback. It sounds like you'd like the ability to set default re-order quantities for each of your products. I assume this value would need to be set at the supplier/product level? So, if you had multiple suppliers assigned to a product each supplier might have a different re-order quantity set, depending on your contract with that supplier. Is that correct?
