Manage Contact Tags | How To


This feature is available to Customer Marketing subscribers. Learn more about Customer Marketing.

Contact Tags enable you to group your contacts based on criteria that you define. Add tags that characterize customers as it's relevant to your business.

Then use these to filter your Contacts, create Contact Lists, and send Automated Campaigns.

Here are a few ways that you might use Contact Tags:

  • If you have Contacts who responded to a specific marketing campaign, you can create a tag for that Campaign.

  • If Contacts have expressed an interest in a soon to be released product - you can tag those Contacts. Then easily locate those Contacts later when you are ready to send a Campaign to announce that the product has arrived.


To filter the Contacts on the CONTACTS page by tag, expand the "Tags" filter and enter the tags you want to use. Learn more about filtering Contacts.

Contact Tags can be added from:

Add Tags from CONTACTS Page

Tags can be added to contacts one by one or in bulk. To begin, go to the CONTACTS page from the left navigation bar by clicking MARKETING > CONTACTS:

Add Tag to Single Contact

  1. Click the name of the Contact your want to update.

  2. click the Manage Tags button.

  3. Type a tag name. If the tag has never been saved before, it will be created after hitting ENTER on your keyboard.

  4. Click the X in the top right of the modal when you are done. The change is saved automatically.


Add Tag to Multiple Contacts

  1. Check the box next to each Contact name that you want to tag.

  2. Click the Action button and click Add Tag from the drop-down.

  3. Enter the name of the tag and click Submit.


Add Tags from Lists Tab

  1. Click on the "Lists" tab.

  2. Click on the name of the list that you would like to tag contacts in.

  3. Check the box next to the contacts you would like to tag.

  4. Click the Add Tag button.

  5. Type in the tag you would like to use and click "Submit".


Add Tags from ORDERS Page

  1. Check the box next to each order that you would like to tag.

    Check the orders you would like to print.
  2. Expand the More button and select Add Contact Tags.

  3. Enter the name of the tag and Submit.


Update Tags via a CSV file

Tags can be edited for contacts in bulk, using a CSV file upload.

When creating a CSV file, some important things to keep in mind when creating the CSV file.

  • Be sure to include all Tags that should be assigned to the customer.

  • You can add tags by re-uploading a CSV with a new tag. Re-uploading a CSV will not remove them.

Steps to Update Tags via CSV:

  1. Download your Contacts contacts.

  2. Open the downloaded CSV file.

  3. Review the "Tags" column. Add or remove the tags as needed.

  4. Save the file in CSV format.

  5. Upload the CSV file to ShippingEasy.

Remove Tags

To remove Contact Tags from the CONTACTS page, follow these steps.

  1. Click the name of the customer you wish to update on the CONTACTS page.

  2. On the Contact Details page, click the Manage Tags button.


    Or, click the Actions button and select "Remove Tag".

  3. To remove a tag, click the X next to the tag name.


    If there are multiple tags, uncheck with tags you would like to remove from the contact profile and then click Submit.
