Step by Step Guide

Instant rate automatically assigns a carrier, service, and packaging option on the orders page to orders that meet the requirements of having a verified address and a weight for the order. An eligible order will have a recommendation applied to it based on the weight. It then displays the cost of the recommended service to the left of the order:

Instant Rate recommendations will always use the USPS as the carrier, and the service recommended is based on the weight. It’s important to remember that if you are missing weights for any of your products, the recommended service might not be accurate. Instant depends on your product weights being accurate.

First Class is recommended for orders < 1lb

Priority Mail is recommended for orders > 1lb

If you have shipping rules in place, or a default preset that applies to all your orders, that will take precedence over an instant rate suggestion. This feature will only offer suggestions for orders that have no other preset applied to them in any way.

If you are happy with the recommended service, just click the label price to the left of the order to purchase it:

To purchase more than one at a time, you can select multiple orders and purchase them all at the same time with the buy and print button.

You can use the rate quote filter on the left side to filter down to only orders with rate quotes to make it easy to purchase them all at the same time.

If the order is missing a requirement necessary for a quote, such as the weight, instead of a rate to the left of the order, you will see a yellow caution sign. Simply click it to resolve the issue and get a quote.

If you want to adjust the suggested carrier, service and packaging to another preset, you can select a new one by opening the drop down to the right of the shipping selection

This list is populated with shipping presets. We have the most common combinations already created, but you can also make your own to add to this list. See our guide on Shipping Presets for information on how to do that.
