Troubleshoot: Sending inventory updates to Shopify

Created:   |   Updated:

If you're having issues with ShippingEasy not sending inventory updates to your Shopify store, the issue could be related to the permissions set within ShippingEasy or in your Shopify store. We recommend double-checking the following settings.

ShippingEasy Settings:

Have you linked all the products in your ShippingEasy product catalog with your store?

In order for ShippingEasy to send inventory updates to Shopify, SKUs in your Products catalog must be linked with - or mapped to - the product listings in your store. This ensures that when stock levels change in ShippingEasy, those levels can also be reconciled in your store. Learn more about linking product SKUs.

Have you enabled the "Set available stock at store setting"?

In order for the inventory updates to be sent to Shopify, you need to give ShippingEasy permission to set available stock levels in your store. This is enabled within your ShippingEasy STORES & ORDERS settings. Learn more.

Enabling this setting means that ShippingEasy will keep track of your available inventory quantities. Any updates to your inventory levels should be made directly within ShippingEasy. If you edit the amount of inventory you have available on your sales channel directly, ShippingEasy will override these updates.

Shopify Store Settings:

Have you setup multiple listings for the same product in your store?

If you have multiple listings for the same product, on the same store, then each listing must be assigned a unique Product SKU. This is because ShippingEasy will only update one product listing per Product SKU.

After all Shopify listings have unique SKUs:

Of course, you'll need a way to tell ShippingEasy which of your SKUs are for the same item in your inventory. SKU Aliases can solve this problem. Within ShippingEasy, the SKUs can be merged to create a master SKU with assigned SKU Aliases. This will enable ShippingEasy to update all the SKUs in Shopify when the stock level for the master SKU changes.

Does ShippingEasy have permission to access the products, variants and collections in Shopify?

In order to update the inventory levels in your Shopify store, ShippingEasy needs permission to modify your store. This includes permission to modify products, variants and collections in your Shopify store. Learn how to grant Shopify App permission.
