DHL Express Shipments | FAQs

ShippingEasy allows merchants to connect DHL Express accounts to take advantage of their preferred pricing, online import/export shipping tools, and access to DHL tools designed to help simplify any complexities that may arise. Below are some frequently asked questions when using DHL Express with ShippingEasy.

Can I cancel a DHL Express shipments?

No, DHL Express does not support canceling shipment labels.

If you do not give the package to DHL Express you will not be charged for the shipment.

Can I create a return label on a DHL Express shipment?

No. Return labels are not supported on DHL Express.

Can I use DHL Express to ship to a US Territory?

At this time, no, ShippingEasy does not support creating DHL Express shipments for destinations in US Territories (Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, etc.). We are interested in hearing from our customers about the importance of having this feature. To create a DHL Express shipment label to a US Territory, you can use the DHL Express web site.

Can I advance the shipment date on a DHL Express shipment?

Yes. You can set the shipment date up to 10 days in advance of the current date.

The shipment date is printed on the "archive" label. This is the label that you keep, instead of placing on the package.

Can I create a DHL Express shipment without entering dimensions?

No, DHL Express requires dimensions entered on all shipments.

 

Can I see the cost of a shipping label when I use DHL services?

The software provided to ShippingEasy by DHL Express does support the display of rate quotes for your shipping labels when on the READY TO SHIP page. This means that before you purchase a label, you will see a postage estimate based on the package information you've entered and the rates associated with your account credentials.

However, the DHL Express software does not support the display of shipping costs for your labels created within ShippingEasy. This means DHL Express shipments will show a cost of N/A on the READY TO PRINT and SHIPMENT HISTORY pages.

DHL eCommerce (Global Mail)

The DHL eCommerce software does not support the display of rate quotes for shipping labels. You will not see any cost information on the READY TO SHIP page and shipments will show a cost of "N/A" on the READY TO PRINT and SHIPMENT HISTORY pages.

Do I need an End of Day report or Manifest for DHL Express shipments?

No. When you create a DHL Express label with ShippingEasy, the information about that shipment is automatically transmitted to DHL Express. There is no need to create a manifest at the end of the day.

Why am I getting an error when shipping with DHL Express?

The following are common errors that may occur when shipping using DHL Express.

No rate could be returned from International Logistics Solutions

ShippingEasy supports accessing ;DHL Express rates through International Logistics Solutions accounts. In order for ShippingEasy to quote rates from International Logistics Solutions, your individually negotiated rates will need to be uploaded to International Logistics Solutions' server. If your rates have not been saved to International Logistics Solutions' server, then ShippingEasy will display the error message:


SPECIAL DHL EXPRESS RATE ALERT(S): Messages from DHL Express:
  • No rate could be returned from International Logistics Solutions. The service may not be available to the destination or the account may not be properly configured with International Logistics Solutions. 

To resolve this error, please contact your International Logistics Solutions representative.

No rate could be returned from InXpress

ShippingEasy supports accessing DHL Express rates through InXpress accounts. In order for ShippingEasy to quote rates from InXpress, your individually negotiated rates will need to be uploaded to InXpress's server. If your rates have not been saved to InXpress's server, then ShippingEasy will display the error message:

SPECIAL DHL EXPRESS RATE ALERT(S): Messages from DHL Express:
  • No rate could be returned from InXpress. The service may not be available to the destination or the account may not be properly configured with InXpress.

To resolve this error, please contact your InXpress representative.

Can I print a customs form for my international DHL Express shipments?

Yes, a commercial invoice that contains all the necessary customs form information is available from the SHIPMENT HISTORY page. Just click the arrow on the Reprint button and then choose Customs Form.

You can print the form and then provide it to DHL Express when they pick up your shipment. 

However, printing the customs form is not necessary for shipments to most countries. ShippingEasy will automatically transmit the customs information to DHL Express when you print the DHL Express shipping label. When the customs information has been sent automatically to DHL Express, you will see the term "Paperless Trade" on the archive label (the label you keep, instead of putting on the package):

DHL Express publishes a list of countries for which it supports automatic submission of customs form data.

ShippingEasy will display a reminder to print the customs form if DHL Express does not support automatic submission of customs form data to the destination country for your shipment.  

For countries that support automatic submission of customs data but only up to a certain value, ShippingEasy never submits the customs data automatically because those values can change. For example, you will always need to print the customs form for a DHL Express shipment to Mexico, even if the value of the shipment is less than $50.
