The date listed on your label such as 2-Day, 3-Day, is the average delivery standard for the chosen USPS service.
The Service Commitments, as the USPS calls them, are based on which zip code the shipment is sent from and which zip code the shipment is sent to. Keep in mind that service commitments are based on drop-off time. Should you drop a package off or have it picked up after the cut-off time, the service start date will move to the next business day.
The USPS service types and their shipment times are:
- Priority Mail Express: Overnight by 10:30am (additional fees apply), or 1 to 2 business days, dependent on zip code delivery areas. This is the only service that is guaranteed with a money-back option.
- Priority Mail: average delivery standard of 2 or 3 business days.
- First Class Mail: average delivery standard of 2 or 3 business days.
- Media Mail: typically delivered in 2-8 business days.
