Unlike prepaid returns, Pay-On-Use Return (POUR) Labels are not paid for when the label is created. Instead, funds are deducted from your account when the return label is scanned into the mail stream. If the label isn't scanned, you are never charged for it.
There are a couple things to consider before using POUR labels. ShippingEasy's POUR labels are supported through Stamps.com. In addition to the cost of the label, Stamps.com charges a $0.25 transaction fee on all POUR labels. This transaction fee will accumulate and you are billed once-per-month using the payment method on file. The transaction fees are not deducted from your One Balance account.
You may also need to upgrade your shipping volume allowance in ShippingEasy as POUR labels will count towards your monthly shipping volume in ShippingEasy. Each label generated counts as a shipment, whether or not it is scanned into the mail stream. Learn more about your plan and available shipping volume.
To print POUR labels in ShippingEasy, you can follow our step-by-step guide. Find answers to more frequently asked questions below.
Can I use ShippingEasy's automatic postage refill setting with Pay-on-Use Returns?
No. If you have previously used automatic postage refill in ShippingEasy, you will need to turn it off. Learn how to disable ShippingEasy's automatic postage refills.
When you enabled your account for Pay-on-Use Returns labels, auto-postage rules were set for your Stamps account. These are independent of ShippingEasy's settings and are required to ensure that your postage balance is adequately funded when the POUR labels are scanned.
If you have both automatic postage refills in ShippingEasy and auto-postage rules in Stamps active at the same time, you may be charged 2x when refilling your postage balance and/or experience label failures in ShippingEasy.
What label sizes are supported for POUR labels?
POUR return labels are only supported on 4"x6" thermal labels and 4"x6" thermal labels with Packing Slips.
Update your label selection by navigating to SETTINGS >> LABELS.
Then select one of the following options:
If a non-supported label type is selected, an error will be displayed on READY TO SHIP.
Where can I locate the POUR label tracking number?
The POUR label tracking number can be found in your ShippingEasy SHIPMENT HISTORY.
TIP: Use the "Returns" filter to narrow the results to only those shipments with Pay-On-Use-Returns. Learn more about filters on SHIPMENT HISTORY.
There will be two tracking numbers displayed for any shipment with a POUR label. The POUR tracking number will be shown directly below the outbound tracking number.
Tracking data will not update until the label has been scanned by the USPS.
In what sequence will documents print for a shipment with a POUR label?
Your documents will print in the following order:
- Outbound label
- POUR return label
- Packing slip (if applicable)
You can opt to generate your documents as PDFs or send them directly to a printer via ConnectEasy.
TIP: If you use ConnectEasy and only require a reprint of one of the labels, select the option to reprint to file so that you can specify which of the labels to send to your printer.
