How to: Add new Product SKUs

ShippingEasy's Product Catalog provides a centralized hub to store all your product information. This information is then used to update your orders automatically, matching the product SKU to override data synced from your store.

If you use our Inventory Management tool, you can follow these same steps to add new products, update existing products, and update stock levels. 

NOTE: If your store platforms include Amazon, Bigcommerce, eBay, Magento, Volusion, Shopify or Squarespace, product catalog entries are automatically created for items included in new orders. However, there may be advantages to uploading your entire catalog proactively.

Product listings can be added one-by-one or all at once via CSV file (in bulk).

How to: Add individual Products

  1. Navigate to the INVENTORY tab from anywhere in the ShippingEasy app, then select the PRODUCT page from drop down menu.
  2. On the PRODUCTS page, click the Add Product button next to the item listing.



  3. On the "Add Product" page, enter the details of the listing. 
    NOTE: SKU is required and must not contain any spaces.

  4. When finished, click the Add Product button.

How to: Add multiple Products via CSV file

NOTE: When updating products via a CSV file, it's not necessary to pare down the data to only the new items. 

A file with a complete listing of all your products will work just as well as one limited to only products with updates. ShippingEasy will review the file for (1) new items and (2) updated items. All others will be ignored. New items will be entered as new product listings. Updated items will be edited to reflect new weights.
  1. On the PRODUCTS page and with a prepared CSV file on hand, click the grey Upload Products link. 



  2. From the CSV file menu, click Browse. After selecting your file, click Upload file.


    NOTE: The ShippingEasy Account Owner will receive an e-mail once the upload is complete. This gives you the opportunity to continue shipping while the upload processes.
  3. On the "Upload CSV: Product Import" page, map the "Source Column" to the "ShippingEasy Column". Then select Continue.



  4. Your file will be displayed in the "Current Uploads" section.  Once ShippingEasy has finished processing the data, a green Ready button will appear. Click the button

    TIP: in the event you need to download the CSV file you uploaded, to confirm or change something, simple click the file name in blue.
  5. You'll have the option to review the data. Edit any fields that require an additional update by clicking the field. An edit dialog will appear. Once all the data looks in order, click the Complete Upload button.



  6. Your new products are now cataloged!

    Is there anyway to have the option to sync new products that I add to my BigCommerce store even if no one ordered those new products yet? I am constantly adding new products and re-adding the product data to shippingeasy just makes the whole adding new products to my system more time consuming and not "easy".

    Hi Nitivel - That's an interesting questions! There's not a built in solution to handle this. However, have you tried adding test/dummy orders to your BigCommerce store which contain your new products? 

    I've been playing around with ways to flag these test orders and think I've worked out a process that could be replicated.

    1. Create an initial test order to establish a new Requested Service. This information will be visible in ShippingEasy and can be used to create a Shipping Rule that flags these test orders. In BigCommerce, that additional shipping method might look like the image below: 


      Note: I tried adding a custom shipping method, but found that this didn't save. If it can be saved, so that the exact option can be selected any time, it would be an alternative to selecting "None".

    2. Once this first test order has synced into ShippingEasy, set up a Shipping Rule that flags any orders containing this shipping method. I've created a new Order Category too:
    3. Now, when I place subsequent test orders with my new products, they will be automatically flagged on the Orders page. I can then filter to these orders and clear them:

    4. When I check my Product catalog, I also see that these new SKUs (umbrella, watch, brush, mirror) are all included in my listings:

     

    While these steps are customized to BigCommerce, I suspect that a similar approach could be used for any platform that allows for manual orders to be added and synced to ShippingEasy.
