Edit an Unshipped Order | How To
If an item within an order changes after syncing into ShippingEasy, you can quickly update the order details from the Order Details display before processing the shipment. If you are not able to make edits to the line items or recipient address, you may need to have your user permissions updated.
Accessing Order Details
There are three ways to access the Order Details. Each of these will expand the Order Details display within which you can edit order values.

On the ORDERS page, locate the order and click anywhere on the line.

Along the order line, click the pencil icon to the right:

Global Search
Enter the order number into the Global Search box from anywhere in the app to view the Order Details:
This will take you to the Global Order Details page:
Click any of the Edit options in the Actions box to expand the Order Details display:
Editing Shipment Configurations
In the Shipment Configurations section, you can edit:
- Shipping Selection: Select a Shipping Preset to use or edit the shipping preset.
- Service: Choose from one of your connected carriers to change service or to browse rates. Learn how to connect a carrier to the account.
- Packaging: Choose from the selected carrier package options or a standard "Package" option. Learn more about package options.
- Dimensions: Shipping dimensions are only used if you are sending a shipment in a custom box or envelope rather than in a carrier's flat-rate packaging. You can click to adjust Learn more about shipping dimensions.
- Order Weight: Edit the weight of an order that came in with no weight or change the weight. If you have a USB scale connected via ConnectEasy, you will see the weight register from the scale. Learn how to configure a USB scale.
- View Additional Options: Select to add insurance to the package you are shipping or add a Signature Confirmation. Learn more about Shipsurance.
Editing Order Details
From within the Order Details display, you can edit:
- Order line item details
- Addresses
- Tags
- Notes
Click the pencil icon next to the section you would like to edit.
Editing Order Line Item Details
The following Line Item Detail fields can be edited:
- Name
- Quantity
- Price
- Weight
- Product Options
- Gift Message
Important things to know about editing line items:
- Editing an order’s line item may prevent ShippingEasy from updating the item/order as shipped in the store; this will vary by store platform. Learn more about shipping statuses.
- Editing the Total (price) of an item is possible, but this will not update the $Total on the ORDERS page or the {{shipment.total_paid}} variable on Packing Slips or Email templates. Due to the differences in how each platform treats an item’s cost (with and without tax), we are not currently able to re-total the whole shipment order amount.
- Display Product Options must be turned on in Store settings for the Product Options to be displayed. Learn more about displaying product options.
- The SKU cannot be edited.
Editing Order Addresses
It is important for orders to have valid addresses to ensure delivery as well as provide you with an accurate rate quote. You can edit the recipient and address information in the Order Details display.
If an address is invalid, a red triangle icon will appear next to the address. Within the Order Details display, you can select to "Fix" the address or "Use Anyway". Learn more about how ShippingEasy Validates addresses.
Editing Order Notes
ShippingEasy allows for 3 types of notes to be added to orders: Customer, Internal, and Gift.
Internal notes do not display anywhere outside of ShippingEasy and are meant to help organize your shipping process. Learn more about internal order notes.
Gift and customer notes can be pulled in from your store and edited in ShippingEasy or they can be added in ShippingEasy after your order has synced.
Click the text box in the Order Details slideout and type in your note.
Editing Order Tags
You can add up to 10 tags to individual orders or to multiple orders at one time.
In the Edit Order Details display, locate the Tags field. Then type the name of the tag and select enter to add it to the order.
Comments
I'd like to see you also allow us to edit the ORDER NUMBER here. I often have to add manual orders to create QUOTES for interested buyers so that I can quote shipping costs on their potential order. Instead of deleting my initial quote and than creating a new manual order with the final order number, why can't you allow us to edit the order number, OR create a tool that allows us to create QUOTES rather than manual orders, which I can then turn into an order and assign an order number when the order is finalized.

Thank you for your feedback. I can see how that would be useful for manual orders!
Currently, that Order Number is a key field that we use in our databases and for sending tracking updates back to integrated stores, so we had made it something that could not be edited.
In the case of manual orders, I could see being less strict as a possibility. Please see our Feature Request forums to add this request so that our product team can review that entry and other shippers can upvote your post!
