How to: Combine orders

Created:   |   Updated:

One buyer, many orders? Problem solved. ShippingEasy makes it easy to combine multiple orders from a customer if they are going to the same address. This allows you to consolidate orders into a single shipment, saving shipping and packing costs.

ShippingEasy offers two methods to combine orders:

  • Select specific orders to combine into one order.
  • Combine all orders with duplicate recipients using a single keystroke.

NOTE: consider the following before combining orders.

  • The shipment confirmation email will be sent to the email address on the surviving order. Likewise, the email will contain the order data for the surviving order.
  • When orders are combined, the line items costs are not totaled. Rather, the Subtotal from the surviving order will display.
  • If you use Packing Slips in ShippingEasy, we do not recommend their use as invoices. If you combine orders regularly, it may be advisable to edit your templates to exclude order Subtotals and/or Totals. Learn more about customizing packing slips.
  • If you have integrated QuickBooks with ShippingEasy, we will send the individual line item data to QuickBooks to ensure correct calculations in QuickBooks. Learn more about the QuickBooks integration.

How to: Combine specific orders into one order

  1. From the ORDERS page, simply select the box next to the orders. Then expand the More menu, select the Combine Orders option, and click Selected.

  2. A window will appear asking which order recipient will be the master for this order. The master (surviving order) will retain the order number, order date, recipient address, and item cost subtotal. Select Confirm.
NOTE: the shipment confirmation email will get sent to the email address on the surviving order. Likewise, it will contain the order data for the surviving order.
  3. Once an order has been combined, click on the order number to see the combined line items in the order details rollover.

NOTE: when orders are combined, the line items costs are not totaled. Rather, the Subtotal from the master order will display. In this article, order #4571 in the first step is the master order amount displayed here.

How to: Combine all orders with duplicate recipients

Duplicate recipients have the same last name and shipping address. Combining all orders with duplicate recipients streamlines shipping. ShippingEasy can identify all orders that have duplicate recipients and combine them accordingly.

NOTE: this process will honor any filters applied on the ORDERS page. Orders will not be combined across stores.
  1. From the ORDERS page, apply or remove filters as needed. The Combine Orders tool will only apply to the filtered orders.
  2. Expand the More menu, select the Combine Orders option, and click All with Same Recipient.

  3. A window will appear summarizing the number of orders being combined. The oldest order for each combination will be the master surviving order. The master (surviving order) will retain the order number, order date, recipient address, and item cost subtotal. Select Confirm.
NOTE: the shipment confirmation email will get sent to the email address on the surviving order. Likewise, it will contain the order data for the surviving order.

  4. After you select Confirm a progress bar will appear to track the combinations. You can close out of this window or wait for the combinations to complete. Either way, the orders being combined will temporarily disappear from the ORDERS page and reappear when the combining is completed.

NOTE: when orders are combined, the line items costs are not totaled. Rather, the Subtotal from the master order will display. In this article, order #4571 in the first step is the master order amount displayed here.
