How to use ShippingEasy with Etsy

Etsy integrates directly with ShippingEasy. Etsy is a platform for selling your products which makes it easy to receive orders and ship them to your customers. ShippingEasy will automatically send queries to read the orders from your Etsy account and then load them into our application. Once shipped, shipment data will be sent back to your Etsy store. To integrate your Etsy store with ShippingEasy, follow our step-by-step guide.

Integration with Etsy is via oAuth. You will be directed to Etsy to login and accept the third-party API agreement.

Syncing Orders

Once Etsy is integrated with ShippingEasy, orders that have been placed in the last 14 days will begin to appear on the ORDERS page. The following are frequently asked questions about syncing orders from Etsy to ShippingEasy.

How often are my orders synced from Etsy to ShippingEasy?

By default, ShippingEasy will sync with your store hourly to pull in any new orders.

How do I get existing Etsy orders synced to my new ShippingEasy account?

If you have orders older than 14 days old, you can create manual orders for these shipments. Learn how to add manual orders one-by-one or via a CSV file.

Are all orders sent from my Etsy account to ShippingEasy?

When bringing in orders, the following is checked:

  • Was Paid - Y/N?
  • Was Shipped - Y/N?

Only unshipped Etsy orders will sync into ShippingEasy.

What happens if I click Sync on the ShippingEasy ORDERS page?

The Sync link prompts ShippingEasy to pull through orders in an approved status. If your store is set up for automatic order downloads, selecting the Sync link will download orders since the last time a sync completed.

A sync is run automatically each night and can be run manually using the Sync link.

If you have disabled the automatic order download, you must use Sync to download your orders. It can take 15-20 minutes for orders to populate after selecting Sync.

Which order number is displayed in ShippingEasy?

The receipt number from Etsy is displayed as the order number in ShippingEasy.

If I cancel an order in Etsy, will it automatically be cancelled in ShippingEasy?

No. ShippingEasy syncs orders in a read-only format, so once an order has synced, ShippingEasy will not be able to update the order based on changes that occur within your store.

Editing Orders and Shipments

ShippingEasy can recognize when certain changes have been made to an order in your store. For a complete overview, check out our FAQs on the topic. The following are frequently asked questions specific to Etsy orders that are still on the ORDERS page.

If I combine two orders in ShippingEasy, do both orders get updated in Etsy?

No, this would need to be done manually. 

If you combine orders in ShippingEasy, you may need to refund the extra shipping charges to your customer.
If I split an order in ShippingEasy, will ShippingEasy update both tracking numbers to Etsy?

No, there is no concept of partial shipments with Etsy. There is no option to purchase multiple items and send them to multiple recipients. Each overall order has a single recipient and should be shipped in full.

If you split orders in ShippingEasy, you may need to manually update the shipment information to Etsy.
Will my Etsy orders update when I change the recipient's address?

Yes, if you change the recipient address for an order in Etsy, that change will update in ShippingEasy during each automatic sync once per hour or via a manual sync, using the Sync button in the ORDERS page. Learn more about manually syncing here.

Orders will NOT update if:
  • The order is moved from the ORDERS page and later returned. Orders must remain on the ORDERS page to receive updates via the API during automatic sync.
  • If you manually adjust an order in ShippingEasy (add a line item, remove a line item, edit address), we consider ShippingEasy to be the main source of information and will not check for updates within Etsy on future store syncs.

Shipment Changes and Updates

ShippingEasy updates your store with order information throughout the entire shipping process.

What information is sent back from ShippingEasy to Etsy?

When Etsy updates to the store it marks the order as shipped and provides Etsy with the ship date, carrier name, and tracking number.

Orders and Product Information

ShippingEasy displays your order and product information on the ORDERS page, where you can customize what information you see. Learn more about customizing your ORDERS page.

What product information from Etsy is displayed in ShippingEasy?

The following product details are displayed in ShippingEasy:

  • Name
  • SKUs
  • Weights
  • Notes: Any optional order notes that a buyer adds to an Etsy order during the checkout process (referred to as "message from buyer") will be transferred and displayed in ShippingEasy.

This information can be found by navigating to SETTINGS > Edit Store Settings link under the Etsy store listing.

Are customers' requested services displayed in ShippingEasy?

Yes. When a buyer specifies a requested service, that information will be synced with the Etsy order. This information can be used in many ways:

Email Notifications

Etsy sends email notifications to your customers and there is not currently a way to turn this off, so we recommend turning off the email notifications sent from ShippingEasy. Learn how to turn off email notifications

Why are my orders not downloading from Etsy?

There are a few reasons that an order may fail to download:

  • The order has already been shipped and has a "shipped" status.
  • The order is older than 14 days old.
