How to: Set up my Packing Slips

Just like Labels, Packing Slips are a vital part of the shipping process. They keep you organized, make your process more efficient and are appreciated by your customers. Setting up your Packing Slips takes less than a minute and when you've made your selections, they'll remain your default settings unless you change them.

ShippingEasy allows you to print your Packing Slips in two different sizes, for a total of 4 formats:

  • 4"x6" landscape
  • 8.5"x11" landscape
  • 8.5"x11" portrait
  • 8.5"x11" portrait, with combined label

A multitude of workflows are supported. Including the option to print Packing Slips:

This guide will help you nail down the basic PACKING SLIP settings so you can start shipping quickly. Though, this is just a starting point! Personalize Packing Slips further by creating custom Packing Slip templates. Even use Shipping Rules to apply specific templates based on order attributes. Learn more about these options:

To get started setting up Packing Slips:

  1. From any page, click on the SETTINGS tab on the blue navigation bar.
  2. Select PACKING SLIPS under the LABEL SIZES & PRINT OPTIONS section.
  3. Finish setup by following the steps for your desired workflow. Click on a header below for details.

How to: Set up Packing Slips to be printed before processing Labels

Packing Slips can be printed from the ORDERS page before purchasing labels. When using this workflow, Packing Slips can be generated in the following formats:

  • 4"x6" landscape
  • 8.5"x11" landscape
  • 8.5"x11" portrait
To set up Packing Slips to be printed from the ORDERS page, before purchasing labels:
  1. From the PACKING SLIPS settings page, scroll to the "Printed From: Orders Page" section.printed from orders page.png
  2. Expand the Output Format menu.
  3. Select the format you prefer.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and Save the change.

Any Packing Slips you print from the ORDERS page will now use this format!

How to: Set up Packing Slips to be printed at the same time as purchasing Labels

There are a couple ways that this workflow can be configured.

  • Use Buy & Print from the ORDERS or READY TO SHIP page.
  • Print a combination Label & Packing Slip format.
To set up Packing Slips to be printed from the ORDERS page at the same time as Labels are purchased:
  1. From the PACKING SLIPS settings page, scroll to the "Printed From: Ready to Print, Shipment History" section.
  2. Select the format you prefer.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and Save the change.
  4. Now, navigate to the LABELS settings page.
  5. Select from the following supported Label formats for printing Packing Slips via Buy & Print.

  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and Save the change.
To set up Packing Slips to be printed from the ORDERS page at the same time as Labels are purchased:
  1. From any page, click on the SETTINGS tab on the blue navigation bar.
  2. Navigate to the LABELS settings page.
  3. Select from the following supported Label formats for printing combination Labels and Packing Slips.

  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and Save the change.

How to: Set up Packing Slips to be printed after purchasing Labels

Packing Slips can be printed from the READY TO PRINT, SHIPMENT HISTORY, or GLOBAL SEARCH pages after purchasing labels. When using this workflow, Packing Slips can be generated in the following formats:

  • 4"x6" landscape
    • stand alone or in tandem with label, formatted for a thermal printer
    • half sheet with label, formatted for a laser/inkjet printer (compatible with Avery 5127 paper)
  • 8.5"x11" portrait
    • stand alone, formatted for a laser/inkjet printer
    • combo slip, formatted for a laser/inkjet printer (compatible with OL829 paper)

There are 4 format options available when printing from the READY TO PRINT or SHIPMENT HISTORY pages.

To select one of the stand alone packing slip options:
  1. From the PACKING SLIPS settings page, scroll to the "Printed From: Ready to Print, Shipment History" section.
  2. Select the format you prefer.

    • 4" x 6": formatted for a thermal printer
    • 8.5" x 11": formatted for a laser/inkjet printer
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and Save the change.
To select one of the combination packing slip options:
  1. From any page, click on the SETTINGS tab on the blue navigation bar.
  2. Navigate to the LABELS settings page.
  3. Select from the following supported Label formats for printing combination Labels and Packing Slips.
    • 4" x 6" label, in tandem with label: formatted for a thermal printer
    • 4" x 6" label, half sheet with packing slip: formatted to a 8x11 sheet for a laser/inkjet printer, compatible with Avery 5127 paper
    • Combo slip: formatted to a 8x11 sheet for a laser/inkjet printer, compatible with OL829 paper.
    NOTE: if you select the 4" x 6" inch label or the 4" x 6" inch label (2 per page) on the 'Shipping Labels' page, a packing slip will not automatically print with your labels after purchase unless the order has a Saved Carrier Selection assigned by a Shipping Rule. A packing slip can then be printed simultaneously with a label using the Buy & Print button on the ORDERS page. Learn more.

  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and Save the change.

How to: Use a customized Packing Slip template

ShippingEasy is ready to go out of the box with a "default" packing slip template selected. However, you can further customize your packing slip template to your stores' specific requirements. Learn how to create a custom Packing Slip Template

If you've added a customized packing slip template that you would like to be applied to your packing slips, be sure to apply it.  

  1. Navigate to SETTINGS >> PACKING SLIPS.
  2. Scroll down to "Packing Slip Template".
  3. Select your new template from the Domestic and/or International menus. 
    NOTE: you can assign unique templates for domestic and international shipments.
